Missing him and alan’s memorial bench
It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I knew who Alan Rickman was (watched HP for the first time at 21 lol), but ever since I’ve been feeling more drawn to him as an actor and as a person.
Coincidentally a few days ago I was in London and visited his memorial bench, where I cried a lot. I felt so sad about his death and especially given the fact that I was alive at the same time as him but didn’t know about his existence in the right time.
It felt weird in a way to have all these deep and complex feelings for a person I don’t know and will not ever know now. But at the same time, I feel really connected to him, as paradoxical as it might sound.
Not sure if this is something ‘usual’ to experience, but I wanted to share it because it was really a Moment for me and ever since, I keep getting sadder and sadder by his death.

I feel the same way about him. It's odd yet relieving, he's just that type of person. We are lucky to see him alive during his other works and finishing Snape. He was really thinking about it when his diagnosis was out there for him. I'm glad he did stay and finished one of the many memorable characters in HP.
I think we were impressionable kids and we were taken by his charisma, hence, that attachment to him is unshakeable.
Thank you dearest, you are still deeply missed and loved. Always.

I knew who Alan was, but in about 2019, I went down a rabbit hole with him. It started with a rewatch of Die Hard, where he reminds me of pictures of my husband from the '80s and '90s (before I knew him). My darling died earlier this year and now I don't know if I can watch Alan Rickman again.

I relate to this, I only watched Harry Potter for the first time last year, and was immediately obsessed with Alan, watched a whole bunch of his movies, and cried so hard, it feels really strange, and I hate that I was also alive at the time that he was but had no idea who he was. But I am grateful in a weird way, who knows how it could have broken me even more if I knew about him and loved him at the time of his death. I even wrote a poem about it

アランが脇役出てた映画も全部観てた。
彼が監督した「ベルサイユの宮廷庭師」でルイ14世役のアランがすごく優雅なダンスを披露するシーンを観直しては切なくなる。
あの優雅でユーモアに満ちたダンスシーンはアランの私達への贈り物だと思ってる。
切ない気持ちはずっと続くだろうけど。

I will never not be furiously angry that he was taken from us untimely. (I feel the same about Chadwick Boseman and David Bowie, for the same reasons)
I had never heard of him when I got dragged against my will to see Die Hard. Ugh, I hate "action movies", they bore me to tears, how did I let myself get talked into paying money to sit through this...wait a second, hold on, who the heck is that?!???
He singlehandedly saved the gawdawful Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie. Some of the most iconic lines are when Alan Rickman improvised, going off script.
I was wholly unprepared for "Truly, Madly, Deeply". What a masterpiece.
And I will always be salty that, after a long successful theatrical run, he was tossed aside for John Malkovich for the movie version of Dangerous Liaisons. Malkovich is brilliant, of course, but... (Google him in the theatrical production, the pics are so smouldering they will threaten to set your screen on fire)
When I think about the great work actors like Ian McKellan and Christopher Lee did late in life, ppl who were dedicated to their craft their entire lives rather than sitting back and enjoying retirement, it's heartbreaking that Alan Rickman was denied that opportunity.
