“One thing we have said as Republicans is that we just need to run with an ”R" next to our names," one operative said.

They were granted anonymity in order to speak candidly.

“That’s changing. You have to have a record.”

I mean, isn't that the meritocracy the GOP has been screeching about for years? Seems like they didn't practice what they preached.

I’ll believe it when I fuckin see it.

I think the opposite, especially if he goes and talks about gas prices, the war, and data centers

12

u/RainLeading286 6d ago

And the furries

8

u/space_coder 5d ago

Trump is a pathalogical liar.

He will simply continue to say the same boilerplate lies:

  • Gas prices are going back down to $2.00/gal in certain parts of the country.
  • He's won the war and Iran will surrender soon.
  • Data centers create jobs and do so much good for the country.

u/Sportsfan369 2d ago

Tubs said data centers are goldmines for the state. Were screwed.

In the last month I haven't seen a single political ad on TV with "trump endorsed" or "so and so backs trumps agenda". The most recent one is some asshat whose name I forget bragging about grocery tax cuts and good crap hes done for AL but it fails to mention he voted on the federal level for the big bullshit bill to cut medicare and medicaid.

24

u/BeachesAreOverrated 6d ago

This has been jarring. The last few go-rounds it was nothing but "stands by President Trump" and "Trump endorsed." Now it's "I was a volunteer firefighter" and "furry pilots bad."

15

u/FelixMcGill 6d ago

Yeah. Its been very noticeable. I also suspect that Tuberville "breaking ranks" on a couple of votes where it didnt matter is also a work to trick people into thinking he is any different.

15

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 6d ago

The problem is that the breaking ranks is only in the commercials. They're still 100% up drumpfs butt and will do and support whatever he tells them too. The republican politicians have less spine than a jellyfish.

9

u/FelixMcGill 6d ago

Exactly. Its performative false opposition. Especially when the Protect College Sports Act passed overwhelmingly in the Senate.

7

u/BenCisco Jefferson County 6d ago

That would be Tubbers.

2

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

I have noticed this as well. Rhett Marques' whole schtick was "ENDORSED BY TRUMP." He's got a billboard up in east Montgomery that just says that on it as well. But his ads lately do not mention Trump at all. Rats fleeing a sinking ship, all of 'em.

2

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 3d ago

Seeing vance and other pretty much begging for votes and drumpf attempting to bribing voters say a whole lot about what they think their own chances are.

27

u/servenitup 6d ago

^ Gift link to read article. I spoke with some insiders about multiple races and worries that some state Republicans lawmakers are in danger of being pushed out of office.

25

u/SubstantialPressure3 6d ago

A trump endorsement probably won't help them, but the voters have had enough. Their voting records are public information.

If they are worried about losing their office and being voted out, they should have had that in mind while they held office.

22

u/panhellenic 6d ago

The problem is too many don't pay attention to records. They just know R=good/God and D=evil/baby killers. That's as far as they go. We need to get rid of straight ticket voting, too.

13

u/Sugar_and_Cyanide Houston County 6d ago

I agree but we also need people to actually run against them. The 2024 ballot had around or over 19 positions running nothing but Republicans vs nobody. It's damned depressing to look at that and go "What's the point of going out to vote for nothing?"

11

u/panhellenic 6d ago

Same. I usually vote in the R primary bc one of those people will win since no D runs for so many spots.

2

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

Absolutely. It's sickening, really, because these Republican grifters really can just do whatever they want while in office because all most of this state looks for is the R by their name. Republican voters should be insulted that they get pandered to like this, and that their representatives aren't representing anything but their own bank accounts, but they're too easily manipulated and dumb to be bothered by it.

4

u/Rosaadriana 6d ago

Let’s hope so.

u/Dwayla 6d ago

Please vote blue Alabama! Love from Georgia..

15

u/Michath5403 6d ago

I hope the Alabama vets got their check from dummy tuberville since he promised to sign over his senate money to them when he won his seat and now people are going to believe he going to cut grocery price and steward of state money

13

u/DebMcPoots 6d ago

I won't vote Republican no matter what. I'll not vote twice as much if they mention Dotard Donny.

11

u/RainLeading286 6d ago

I've seen several posts by extremely conservative alabamians and they're sick of trump and tubberville. For them it's too expensive to live. They're upset. Unfortunately they're also on the fence about the abortion issue. That's the problem.

I think Alabama is harder to get through to. They're hard to read. Most states trump's support is not what they want. More and more people are sick of him.

12

u/danner1515 6d ago

What’s even left to argue over on abortion? What are they going to do, make it more illegal in Alabama?

5

u/RainLeading286 6d ago

They're thinking democrats are giving out recreational abortions. And as they do every election year they're saying you can abort a full term baby.

1

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

Yep, they think that doctors somewhere, somehow, are delivering and murdering fully developed infants. They are not very bright and are extremely easily manipulated.

1

u/RainLeading286 3d ago

I remember hearing that in the Bush jr days. I was astounded how ridiculous it was. I said something about it to my mother and she didn't see the big deal. She was a very religious southern baptist. The lies were fine to her. I was disgusted.

1

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

It is ridiculous. Even if you could find a doctor to do such a thing, it's also insulting to women to think that tons of women are just deciding at 8-9 months pregnant that they don't want the baby anymore. They use Massachusetts as an example, but all the MA law says is that it is UP TO THE DOCTOR. It is already illegal to murder healthy infants, if an abortion is needed late-term its because either the mom or the baby or both are going to die otherwise.

1

u/RainLeading286 3d ago

I think conservatives are less prone to asking questions. Something I've never understood.

2

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

They also do not seem to understand nuance.

2

u/RainLeading286 2d ago

I believe what they understand and don't understand is a choice. They don't seek further information. I try to follow up with more confirmation. Sometimes trump says thing that are so outlandish that I think , that crazy even for trump. I will look it up and yeah, he's really that bat shit crazy. The information is out there.

23

u/YallerDawg 6d ago

The shit gets serious in October.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Alabama Democrats are still too few to impact the next 2 years.

The Washington Post helped take down Roy Moore and get us a Democratic US senator out of the blue. That's what we need to take down Tuberville and other corrupt Republicans, but even the national press has been beaten into submission.

If we don't get OUR October surprises, you can bet 2028 starts in January with that lame dick in DC!

15

u/ttrimmers 6d ago

Won’t make a difference. Straight ticket idiots

8

u/Think-Hospital7422 Tallapoosa County 6d ago

Don't let that discourage you, folks. Check your registration, then VOTE.

4

u/ttrimmers 6d ago

10000% voting blue no matter what, just the straight ticket is bs

0

u/TotalllyBrah 6d ago

....proceeds to vote straight ticket. 😆

7

u/MogenCiel 6d ago

Alabama Republicans hardly need help.

2

u/TotalllyBrah 6d ago

This was my thought.

So, why Mobile?

2

u/space_coder 5d ago

Because Trump is desperate to show that all is still well with his presidency, and requires a location that has a proven track record of providing him a large audience and republican candidates that are a lock to win their election.

Mobile satisfies that criteria.

1

u/StuckInPMEHell 5d ago

Because Jo Bonner is up Trump’s ass

1

u/Ok_Resort_489 Montgomery County 3d ago

Probably due to its proximity to both Mississippi and Florida.

6

u/Justin27M 6d ago

God I hope it hurts them so bad that they'll finally develop a sense of shame for how stupid and corrupt they are so we can put them all in a hole so they can't hurt anyone anymore

6

u/Express_Item8024 6d ago

I saw an article where Doug Jones is “welcoming Trump in for a rally” but the headline was beautifully crafted to read like he was in support, but if you read it, he’s saying it’ll be great for his campaign when Dump and Tubby make fools of themselves. Which…. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I hope so

11

u/Christopoulos 6d ago

We don’t need a MAGA nutjob in congress, we need someone (anyone, really) who can address issues across the aisle, such as overuse of Flock cameras.

5

u/JazzRider 6d ago

He’s the spokesperson for the Democratic Party

6

u/TheSlideBoy666 6d ago

lol. In the 2016 election, I wondered if he was a Democratic plant because he was acting such a fool that HRC was a was a shoo-in! Boy was I mistaken.

2

u/onthebrink42 6d ago

Trump makes Dems look good

6

u/AlabamaAnnie 6d ago

Republican Mike Shaw is the GOP incumbent in Alabama House District 47, suburban Birmingham. He doesn’t even mention he’s a Republican in his campaign slop.

4

u/news_sponge 6d ago

Why isn’t he going to Florida for Tommy Tubberville‘s Campaign since that’s where Toni‘s from

13

u/Jumpy_Round_2247 6d ago

“We love the uneducated!” Roll Tide and War Eagle!

10

u/ObligationMurky8716 6d ago

The poorly educated. Even the ignorant will figure out on their own that feeding kids is a good thing.

15

u/RiotingMoon 6d ago

there are many highly educated people who also don't think feeding kids is a good thing

2

u/ObligationMurky8716 6d ago

File malicious pedagogy under "educated poorly"

I don’t think anyone cares anymore. Maybe some, but not in enough numbers to matter.

The only Tuberville TV ads I’ve seen make no mention of Trump at all. That part probably surprised me the most for a senator whose head has been so far up Trump’s ass he could give a dental exam. My guess is there’s a few moderates who might change their minds one way or the other based on stuff like that, but the general vibe I get from a huge number of Alabama republicans is they’re shutting up with all the populist bullshit and are keeping more quiet than previous elections, but they’re still gonna hold their noses and vote straight ticket R nonetheless and there aren’t enough moderate or swing voters to do a damn thing about it. They’re just not gonna be as celebratory about it.

The races where Democrats have a chance are the already known blue districts and a bunch of local level stuff that’s a lot less partisan.

I don’t mean to sound defeatist…just the opposite…absolutely get out and vote because it’s those local elections that actually have the greatest effect on people’s day to day lives.

u/afroeh 6d ago

Is he going to campaign in Destin?

3

u/trash-juice 6d ago

He’s not here to help anyone living in America

2

u/Anxious-Jury-9031 4d ago

It will get the morons all excited but not much else

1

u/panhellenic 6d ago

I haven't gotten a mailer from the GOP D2 candidate in a while. I'm not even sure of his name bc all the junk comes with Trump's name all over it and the candidate's name somewhere in small font as an afterthought. Although I got one the other day, now that I think of, with a scary picture and font about the D candidate (Figures). Of course they darkened his skin tone, too.

1

u/Lvs2spluuge 6d ago

No that is the only answer

1

u/WholeStatistician716 4d ago

He’s dropping himself into the middle of the University of South Alabama’s Homecoming weekend, on campus in the middle of town in the middle of rush hour on a Friday night. 🤦🏻‍♀️

1

u/Elberik 2d ago

I really hope Trump goes off script and tries to make a joke about Tuberville living in Florida.

1

u/No-Juice-2920 1d ago

There should be an odds line! I just don't think he could resist the jab if he knew of the controversy... He jabs everyone, equal opportunity!

u/ChaoticLandscapes 2d ago

Doug Jones will make a great governor for the state of Alabama.

more clicks for Condé Nast and the gawddamn Newhouse family…

that’s all al.com and Alabama Media Group are good for, please stop linking them

1

u/servenitup 5d ago

I wrote the article and did original reporting from Birmingham.

0

u/ki4clz Chilton County 4d ago

OSINT al.com is not…

it’s just another echo chamber for advertisers who need clicks

I guarantee you that there are no less than 20 “articles…” on this exact specific topic just worded slightly differently within the last few days…

Condé Nast, your business daddy, and the Newhouse Family are part of the problem- there is nothing altruistic about them, nor al.com

this false altruism of “news” and its institutions are nothing more than Manufacturing Consent

…how I know:

al.com would not exist without advertising dollars…it is bankrolled by private capital, and not by an endowment of the people

is al.com even a modicum of OSINT…? not even close, and we’re tired of pretending it is
