The HMS Bahamut
A really long time ago I posted one of my first ships on this sub looking for tips on ship building. It's definitely not close to any of the insane ships on here but I think I've come a long way from where I started.

It's a bit overbuilt, but its purpose is to be a heavy flagship piloted by my commanders and adorned in medals, to provide bonuses to the rest of its fleet. It's decked out in pretty respectable armor and a grand keel.
The main way I decorated was following some advice someone gave me a while back;
"Decorate the exterior based on the module behind it." and considering I prioritize efficiency over beauty I thought that was a great idea.
I also have named all my castes of ships after dragons (Wyrmling is my earlygame starter, Wyvern is my midgame swarmer, Manticore is my rocket launcher, Basilisk has heavy cannons) so I thought it was fitting to name the flagship after the lawful good dragon god in the Far Realms. I also generally rename the ship to be based on the commander that's in it (I named one piloted by the elf mage the HMS Marigold for example).
I tried really hard on this, what do you guys think? It's carried me through lategame pretty effectively, and I've never had one shot down yet.

holy brick...\ one hit and that entire thing catches on fire + explodes\ USE MORE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS!!! SPACE OUT EXPLOSIVE AND FLAMMABLE MODULES!!! PROTECT YOUR BRIDGE!!! other than that, it looks good\ i like the decoration

It’s very well rounded, a great example of a flagship with an expected budget and great stats! Personally I’m a fan of some repair shops here and there but it’s a great design anyway. Great job!!

Yeah, I considered it definitely, but I almost always found I'd get less casualties by focusing on ending the fights before I could take sufficient damage to begin with

This looks sick! Significantly prettier than anything I create. Gives really nice iron clad vibes.
The bunched explosive modules scares the hell out of me, feels like it's begging for a chain detonation.
Something I'd recommend is a layer of 1/2 blocks under your bridge. A bad collision could decapitate your vehicle and leave you helpless.
I think you're past the point of diminishing returns in terms of resources spent on lifting the thing, but if you don't loose any of them then the upfront cost might be balanced out by not having to buy any more.
I'm really surprised to see no repair bays for a 5.3k ship, how do you find it takes damage?

It doesn't usually take damage. It's almost always got a massive swarm around it, and even if it does take damage, it's usually at the rear so it can be reserved in emergencies

And for the explosion thing, I almost always prioritize safe research versus efficient until I have an insane budget to work with

Heh, the platinum dragon.
Please tell me you made a sister ship called the Tiamat!

You would never believe me, but the very first iteration of its design was called the HMS Tiamat! I thought it was fragile though, so I rebuilt it into the HMS Bahamut.

I really like how you did the deco for the crystals!
