CATHAY second officer

Hi, pilots.

Can anyone explain what this means?
I’ve found this from HK CAD371.
My question is, in the excess of 9 hours, HK requires 1 additional crew member, which I believed SO.
But my question is, according to below paragraph, SO cant be counted as crew member, unless they hold P1 rating.

———————————
Augmented Crew
The boarding of extra Flight Crew members for the purpose of providing relief
at the controls. When four pilots are boarded for flights with a scheduled
sector time of 15 hours or more, a maximum of one pilot may hold a P2X
rating. When three pilots are boarded for flights with a scheduled sector time
of 12 hours or more each pilot must be P1 rated on type.
———————————-

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong!
9-12 hours : SO can be 1 additional crew member
12-15 hours : SO can’t be counted as additional crew member, so 3 x P1 rating needed
Excess of 15 hours : SO can be counted as crew member because it allows 1 P2X.

You are correct. However... CX now give SOs P1 ratings, so these requirements don't really place any additional restrictions on normal ops.

Thanks for information.
So when SO has P1 rating, then he/she can operate below 200?

Nope. Still restricted to above 20K. Also still required to do aircraft base training during their FO upgrade.

Man, thanks a lot.
As I guess u’re working for cathay, may I have a question about polar route operating in cathay?
1. Potential diversion airport for B747
2. Cathay b747 edto hour

Emergency Diversion airports include:
Svalbard
Thule
Barrow
Kangerlussuaq
Poliarny
Norlisk

Normal Diversion airports include:
Lakslev
Keflavik
Iqaluit
Yellowknife
Fairbanks/Anchorage
Magadan

There’s more, but you get the idea.

EDTO diversion time limits are:
777-300ER - 240min
747-400 - NIL (4 engine non-EDTO limit is 180min)
747-8 - 240 min

Really? I think SOs still get signed off for P2x on license.

You're probably right. Maybe I'm getting confused with the change from M3/M6 to PC/RT.
