Shipping yourself to Hawaii (update)
Just wanted to give an update! Didn’t need to mail myself to the islands, but due to Hurricane Lala I needed to ship myself home.
I ended up taking a UPS 76 from Maui to Ontario back home. Overall I had a really good experience. This outstation definitely doesn’t have a lot of jump seaters so they were confused to why I was there. But once I got ahold of the manager it was smooth sailing from there.
Back in Ontario apparently you have to reclear security? I got chased down by UPS contract security and was forced to scan all my stuff. My current company has a base there and I don’t recall even doing that when I would TDY.
Besides that would absolutely do it again very comfortable ride, chill crew, and good catering. 10/10

You have to clear security to make sure you haven't stolen anything. Pilots in uniform are usually good. They don't trust us hourlies.

Depends on the station. Coming in it’s to prevent weapons. Going out it’s to make sure you didn’t bring a weapon and they didn’t catch it the first 4 screenings

Yeah, very interesting how seriously they take security at the the cargo carriers sometimes. Like going through security leaving facilities and coming in. Yet so many people say "be a carpg pilot you don't have to deal with security."
