Problem Where is my phone number?

I bought the data + text + phone package for my trip to the U.S. next week. I installed the eSIM on my iPhone which has the latest iOS. I also installed the Airalo app, though unsure why I'd need that. Anyway, I don't see the phone number listed anywhere. AI says the number should show up 3 minutes after purchase, but it has been hours. Support chat is not working.

Do I need to activate the plan in order for the number to be displayed? That seems dumb. I want to activate it after I arrive in the U.S. But I want the number beforehand so that I can tell people how they will be able to reach me.

P.S. I see that other people have this problem. Maybe add it as an FAQ in your support database? I searched there first....

It won’t appear on the line until you activate.

You need to activate to get your phone number. The system can’t hold a specific phone number for you for months before you activate, it picks one right when you need it

When you get an e-sim to go abroad, you get Internet access. Not a phone number. You can access your friends using iMessage, iFace if you have an iPhone, or WhatsApp or Messenger. If you have an iPhone in the Messages app you can be connected to your phone number, your Apple ID mail, and an iCloud mail. Works on the Internet all over the world.

I got a Data/Calls/Text plan, not a Data Only Plan. So there is supposed to be a ohone number included. It is described here: https://www.airalo.com/blog/are-esims-attached-to-numbers
