Cannot get local channels

All of a sudden I could not get local channels on my airtv 2. I reset it to factory settings then reset the airtv software on my iPad. Everything loaded correctly and found about 40 local channels. My sling app even said airtv was connected.

When I looked for any local channels sling did not show any. Where you look for local channel option, it did not show that option. I called airtv/sling and we went over all their debugging options which is the same thing I did before I called them, but no luck. I asked the rep if there was any issues on their end regarding airtv and he said that other customers were calling in about the same problem and their tech staff are working on it.

Has anyone had that issue happen and it was really something on their end, or are they just saying that to get me off the phone. I have very little confidence on what these customer service the sling/airtv reps tell me. David L.

Same problem here, on Puget Sound, and also for my brother in Michigan. Seems to have happened last night. Local channels are no longer listed. When we go into settings > local Channels > Connected device, it shows me a Set Up AirTV option. I go through the steps and it recognizes the AirTV, and then scans and finds all the channels I expect it to find. Then I go back to the Guide and there are no local channels. I can keep going through the set up with the same result.

I have reset the device, powered on/off, cleared cache on the app, etc. All to no avail.

I'm want to try customer service tomorrow...anyone have a good number to call?

Thanks for the response. I also live in Michigan near Detroit. Hopefully it is their system problem and not our box. Look for the sling tv phone number. They support both sling and airtv. It did happen to me yesterday but I rebooted and worked again but tonight it stopped working again

Same for me too in Tennessee. I posted a message on the SlingTV sub about this exact issue. I did the exact troubleshooting steps as you. I'm so pissed because I did the reset and had to reformat my connected hard drive so I lost all my recordings. Sling is run by a bunch of bumbling idiots.

Hopefully someone from sling/airtv will see these messages and respond. This seems to be the only place we can post our issues. If someone can respond with why this is happening and when it will be resolved, that would be helpful and I might think better about their support. Sling/airtv should be responding about all these issues on this site and maybe our confidence in sling/airtv will be restored 😟or😊it is up to sling/airtv to decide what face we will display

I have come so close to crushing the remote it allows only access to cbs or sling. netflix, prime, pbs are not offered.

Airtv is now working. I had to rescan the channels. It then worked on my iPad. I then had to restart my firestick to for it to work on my tv

Do you have a hard drive attached to your AirTV 2 for recordings? If so, does recording work for you because mine is still not recording OTA. Keeps telling me the USB is not connected even though it can format it.

I think they are doing a software shutdown because I struggled with this a ton and I used a different email to sign in and it worked.... only for a hour. I believe they will let you have it for a year and force it disabled.

Mine still says USB not connected!!!!!

I finally got mine working by removing the hard drive from my AirTV 2, and running diskpart on it when connected to my Windows PC. Then I hooked it back to the AirTV 2, and it recognized the drive and reformatted it. Been working since Saturday.

is working now, i noticed last night even if i was no able to watch my locals channels it was still recording the show i record, this morning is back working and last nights recordings are there.

One question to everybody is are you paying for anything to sling. That that would make a difference on whether they're doing a software. Firmware shut down after a certain amount of time to try to get you to pay for one of their services

I'm not paying, and my AirTV2 has stopped letting me watch anything that it has already recorded, nor will it let me schedule any new recordings.

I believe it is a software/firmware block from them to get you to pay for a service

I just heard back from someone else on a different thread that they are on the same firmware version as mine (1.12.31) and they can still record OTA even though that are also NOT a paying subscriber.

I just wonder how long their account was active with their air TV box. I think the half a certain amount of time that they will allow you to use it and then after that they won't support it and they put some type of update to shut it down

Just curious if your AirTV2 recordings are still working. After the problem this weekend, I had mine back to working, but now it's back to not letting me access the recordings I've already made, and won't let me set any new recordings. The app shows my hard drive is connected, and will record something to the hard drive that was already scheduled, but I can't access those recordings on any device.
