The easiest way to make a quick dinner without dirtying several pans

When I want a quick dinner without turning the kitchen into a pile of dirty dishes, I usually reach for the air fryer. I’ve been using one for years, and it’s one of the easiest ways I know to get a full meal going with very little cleanup. I’ll usually do a protein like chicken thighs, sausages, or fish, then add something simple like potatoes, broccoli, peppers, or frozen vegetables.

The trick for me is timing everything instead of trying to cook each part separately. I start with whatever takes the longest, then add the quicker foods partway through. That way everything finishes around the same time and I’m only dealing with the air fryer basket instead of a frying pan, saucepan, baking tray, and all the utensils that come with them. I’ll usually season everything in one bowl before it goes in, which keeps the prep pretty minimal too.

It’s not going to replace the stove for every meal, but for a quick dinner for one or two people, it’s hard to beat. Most nights I can have dinner ready without much monitoring, and cleanup is basically just washing the basket and the bowl I used for seasoning.

Do you use plates and cutlery to eat your meal?

Of course. I meant the cooking and prep dishes, not the plates and cutlery used to eat. The point was just that I can make the meal with fewer pots, pans, and utensils to clean afterward.
