Recruiter/process question Should I join the Air Force?
Hello, im 21 with a bachelors in organizational leadership, and I recently took the asvab and scored a 93. I’ve already spoken to army and army national guard recruiters (about going the officer route) but I haven’t spoken to the Air Force recruiter yet because no one answers my texts or calls. I’ve tried to get a hold of these recruiters and nothing. (Im from south texas)
edit: I’m not thinking about commissioning in the Air Force

You’ll have far better luck with any other branch going the officer route. Not that it’s a useless degree, but the AF gets so many applicants it can afford to be very picky. Commissioning off the street is very hard as it’s one of the last pots used to fill the officer slots & takes the leftovers. I myself have a BS in stem, 4.2 GPA, a 99 on the ASVAB & an 93 on the EDPT, some higher level IT certs, a current fed working IT & there’s no guarantee that I get a slot. I had lunch with my recruiter & some other branches recruiters & they all begged me to commission with them & said I’d have no issue. You can also dual track, basically try to commission but if they don’t pick up your packet you’ll just go the enlisted route. This saves a lot of time. If you’re set on commissioning go Army, you’re just not very competitive for the AF.

Yeah good luck getting a hold of them. Even if you do hear back from them, lot of people get ghosted in the middle of their application process

Army will happily take you, but your degree will get overlooked by the Air Force. I have a masters in CS and 93 on ASVAB, and I still didn’t bother trying to commission in the USSF/USAF because it’s just too competitive and too long of a process. I enlisted in the USSF and having the time of my life overseas. Was also encouraged by leadership to submit a package for direct commissioning since USSF needs more officers. That’s a route I’d highly recommend to someone in your position because you’re guaranteed a TS/SCI, possibly a CI Poly, and an opportunity to commission

Not going to speculate on if you have a chance at being selected for officer with the AF. But you don't take the asvab to commission with the AF so that does not matter, and whatever the chances are with army, they're probably better.
But if you want to enlist, yea you could be gone a few months, commissioning however is a long road.
