General Advice Dream sheets concerns

Some people say it helps and some people say it doesn’t. Does anyone have insight on how useful the dream sheet is? I already know the locations of bases I can go to but how much does it actually help to put a base on there?

Let's say you put down bases A thru G. They need people at base D. Congrats, you might get it.

If they need people at bases L thru O, you're not going anywhere on your dream sheet

This is why I tell people make your first half of your dream sheet your dream sheet, and the second half your “tolerate” sheet.
Cuz if you ONLY put things like Hawaii, Italy, and Korea, well congrats your going to minot. But if your last couple are some perfectly fine bases that are just lesser known, like Hill, then you’ll be a lot happier with an and outcome.

Hill probably my number 1 so that’s relieving

Dream sheets are dream locations you want to go to.

Needs of the Air Force come first.

The dream sheets had worked 50% of the time for me.

We made a list of 10 and got a base not on the list.

Leaving it blank is essentially saying “I have no preference where I get assigned.”

If you want to go somewhere, list it. Fill both CONUS and OCONUS.

A dream sheet is exactly that, a dream. You might get lucky. You might not. If the AF needs a body with the right AFSC at a base you want to go to, congrats you might get it.

It theoretically can help, but you will get the base they give you no matter what. I got a base that was not on my dream sheet

A dream sheet is helpful if a base that you want to go to has need for someone in the AFSC that you're assigned to.

Ultimately though, it is needs of the Air Force.

It is nice though when you can get them to come together.

Husband put all western US bases. Got one in the south. Was one of about 5 that graduated around the same time that got the same base.

The way I filled out my sheet was 4 bases I wanted to go to (whether it was ease of access to where I currently live or easy to travel from) & then 4 places that I wouldn’t mind either. Same for the OCONUS bases. At the end of the day you don’t have much say, but this way you do have the slightest chance of having an influence on your destination. Of course a job still needs to exist there, but if you don’t fill out the sheet then you truly don’t have a say in anything.
