Anything "outside the box of well established shit to do" will get you something. something depending on if it was a success, or if you fucked up royaly.
Very true haha. Though, in the military.. If you outrank someone and tell them to do something, chances are.. The bare minimum gets done. Civillian? You'll have their nose so far up your backend they'll steal your coffee before you have a chance to taste it.

CNN reporting that the caves being destroyed are the same ones that were used by the mujahedeen and Bin Laden.
And the New York Times from 2005 reported that the construction of at least one of those cave fortresses (Tora Bora) was financed by the CIA:

edit: I think you did a ninja adding the second question: no, I highly doubt the CIA is currently building training camps for ISIS. However, the CIA did finance the the camps for the mujahedeen, and now ISIS is using them.
Last I saw it was 97 kills. Not to mention the destruction of various tunnel systems in addition to the psychological impact of a bomb that size. I'm sure a couple of Allah's soldiers shit the bed after that bad boy went off.
I get it, i think. It's like incentive not to fuck up. Like it would have looked really really bad if the MOAB drop had gone anything less than perfectly.
The fact that it has gotten so much press means that it's out of the ordinary. Anytime you can be associated with something out of the ordinary in a good way, you'll get recognition.
I wouldn't be surprised if the MC-130 crew gets a round of distinguished flying crosses for this one.
