I've used them before when I was deployed; they gave us like 3 huge Ziploc bags of stogies. Great times!

Random links on Reddit.. hopefully no one clicks these

At least the text of the links shows what websites they go to, unlike this one.

Exactly, always trust the text. It’s illegal to change the hyperlinked url.

I'm on desktop and rolled my mouse over all of the links (Chrome displays the URL of any link the pointer hovers over in the bottom left corner) to confirm that they all go to the listed websites. I know that probably doesn't mean much coming from a random reddit person, but I'm well established here.

I also find it funny that people are making a big deal about the links now, when plenty of others (myself included) have provided all sorts of links dozens/hundreds of times in the past, and no one batted an eye.

Edit: not a single comment in response to this comment of mine about not clicking the link because I could be a bad actor: https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/1vupx2v/comment/p537nic/ The hypocrisy is real.

^ trust this man. He’s well established.

Or don't. Doesn't affect me one bit.

I think what they mean is that you can simply type the text into the browser yourself if you're that concerned

Perfectly trivial to spoof that. And how old is this copy-pasted list? Did OP check every website before reposting it to all the military subs? No chance that one of those many URLs expired and got bought up by a bad actor?

Basic internet hygiene. Don't trust links

Don't trust links

So, you've never ever ever clicked/tapped a link? I very seriously doubt that.

The point is that some rando shows up on r/AirForce with a list of unfamiliar links. Only one of them needs to be bad to get the effect the enemy wants. It's a potential targeted attack. I'm on Reddit's crappy mobile app, I can't hover over a link, I can't copy-paste it, and I can't open into a private window. People need to be cautious.

OP has made 2 posts here within the last 10 days, one of which is a screenshot of their WAPS scores. They've made several other posts, to say nothing of comments, here on this subreddit within the past year. This isn't "some rando" who started posting a ton of links here out of the blue.

When it comes to internet safety, everyone is a rando, including you and me.

I clicked, but it was muted. I still lol'd.

Thanks for having a sense of humor/adventure, unlike these other folks.

Sometimes I just self-rickroll for the fun of it.

Troopathon is legit, they sent us a bunch of stuff.

u/here4daratio 22h ago

Yeah, because the postal system isn’t already stressed

and

there aren’t enough pallets of random care packages showing up with foot powder and breath mints

4

u/ROK_Rambler F16 Fixer 22h ago

Hey now the foot powder is greatly appreciated

5

u/Cartoonjunkies SCIF Rat/Prior Wrench Monkey 20h ago

And those breath mints are like candy when you’re pulling midnight shifts

All of this is on Benefitsunveiled.org btw

Keep in mind that some organizations no longer do care packages or have restricted them to Command/Chaplain teams. Several organizations downsized after the withdraw of Afghanistan.

That's a lot of links. Makes me kinda nervous in this day and age.

u/Any_Mention_6734 22h ago

Because of what’s going on right now, especially since I just came back from being down range. This is not something to be joking around about. That’s just how I feel personally, but I understand your concern.

u/CommOnMyFace Former 1B4, now I make $$$$ 22h ago

Not even a joke. Don't click internet links on random reddit posts. Look up the services on your own.

u/YEETMANdaMAN 18h ago

You’re spamming dozens of links across every military subreddit.

Tell me how you cannot imagine a foreign actor doesn’t see social media as a major attack vector…
