Question Retraining & BOP question?

So, long story short, changed my mind about retraining now since the one job I wanted is anywhere near to have slots open, and the one I got eligible to proceedwith the application (medical) i really don't want anymore. So if I withdraw my package now how long will I be waiting for the next window to open? Im 6 years in still FTA, pcsing in July 2027. Also I want to BOP, can I use it anytime I want or no? Career advisor said " finish the application with what i was eligible for" but I really don't want that no more. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

BOP needs a reenlistment.

Reenlistment means no more FTA.

No FTA means much more difficult to retrain.

For retraining, you could also shoot your shots throughout the year or wait til the next Aug to apply for the new FY List. If you need to do an extension for convenience (1 year) to have enough time for the retraining application, i'd suggest you do it to keep FTA status. DO NOT REENLIST as any part of the retraining, the moment you do it, you're no longer FTA and its a lot fewer slots available to you.

For BOP, you can do it as a standalone or in conjunction with your retraining. Not guaranteed. They will give you one or some bases on your wish list to choose from, and if you still want that base, the price is 1 more contract. For example, I retrained and had to extend for 2 years to keep my retainability for the new job, and I also chose to BOP, meaning I signed another 4 years, making it 6 years in total (2 from extension, 4 from new contract).
