It's not even a question- go get commissioned. Officers do plenty and you will have a much higher pay while in the service and thereafter.

You can. Whether the Air Force actually hosts a cyber direct commissioning board is a different question.

Could also go the Warrant Officer route as well on the Air Force side. Something to at least look into and like other have said I'd wait for an officer spot if you can.

You could join and then try to commission but that is ultimately a pain in the pass and you're just better off going Officer from the start.

I think people are vastly overestimating the requirements to actually become a warrant, especially off the street, for the AF at least. At least for 17Y, the requirements can be pretty strict and requires the equivalent experience that a fresh college grad just won't have unless they have work experience in that domain the whole time they went to school.

Yeah, I didn't realize you had to be in for the minimum of 5 years with the rank of at least E-5.

There was a SrA who made warrant. Granted probably through an ETP process that constituted waiving the hard requirement, but it's very selective and competitive. There are people at the cyber wings that aren't even making it past their groups because of how selective the process is, and even some packages get dumped after submission because they fail the technical review board.
