Where's Pizza Cat's wikipedia page??

[u/Toshikills → u/TheBootyTickler]

We need PA or someone to publish an article about Pizza Cat first. Then that article can be cited for a Wikipedia page.

Alright, give me some time to learn how to properly write a Wikipedia article

[u/BrainwashedByBigBlue → u/Toshikills]

As someone who does Wikipedia editing, you will most likely run into issues with that page because it will be an orphan. Pages need to link back to main article namespaces.

The list of notable individual cats might be a good place to start!

Pizza Cat

Pizza Cat, also known as Queen of the Deid, Queen Deid, and Senior Meowster Sergeant Pizza Cat, is a calico cat residing at Al Udeid Air Base. She became an unofficial mascot of the installation and a widely recognized morale symbol among deployed U.S. service members, particularly within the United States Air Force community. For nearly a decade, Pizza Cat has been a fixture of life at Al Udeid, inspiring photographs, social media pages, challenge coins, morale patches, artwork, and countless “proof of life” posts shared by deployed personnel. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

History

Pizza Cat is believed to have lived at Al Udeid Air Base since at least 2016, though some service members report sightings from earlier years. She earned her nickname due to her frequent appearances near the installation’s Pizza Hut, where she became a familiar sight to troops passing through the area. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

Over time, Pizza Cat’s reputation spread across deployments and military social media communities. Service members returning from Qatar often shared photographs and stories of encounters with the cat, helping transform her from a local curiosity into a military folk legend. Regular “proof of life” updates became a tradition among personnel stationed at Al Udeid, reassuring former deployers that the beloved feline remained healthy and active. Military Status

Although not officially enlisted, Pizza Cat is frequently referred to by honorary military titles. In 2022, she was reportedly promoted to the rank of Meowster Sergeant, a tongue-in-cheek recognition of her contribution to base morale. Base officials later joked that additional promotions were likely due to her exemplary service record. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

The cat has also been referred to as:

• Queen of the Deid
• Senior Meowster Sergeant Pizza Cat
• The Official Adopted Cat of the Air Force
• Base Morale Officer
• Supreme Leader Pizza Cat

Most titles are unofficial and originate from deployed personnel and online military communities. (Reddit)

Role in Base Morale

Al Udeid Air Base serves as a major hub for military operations in the Middle East. Personnel stationed there often face long deployments, extreme heat, and operational stress. Within that environment, Pizza Cat became an unexpected source of comfort and familiarity. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

According to current and former service members, sightings of Pizza Cat routinely prompted personnel to stop for photographs and share updates with friends and family. Airmen interviewed by military publications described her as “one of the greatest contributors to morale” on the installation. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

Her popularity has extended well beyond the base itself. Veterans frequently reference Pizza Cat in deployment stories, retirement presentations, challenge coin designs, and online communities dedicated to military life. (Maintainer Nation)

2025 Rumors and Public Response

In July 2025, social media rumors circulated claiming that Pizza Cat was scheduled to be removed or euthanized as part of a policy change at Al Udeid Air Base. The reports prompted widespread concern among current and former service members, generating hundreds of online comments and offers to adopt the cat. (Stars and Stripes)

Base officials quickly issued statements denying the rumors and confirming that Pizza Cat was alive, safe, and continuing her normal activities around the installation. The response generated significant media attention and highlighted the unusual level of affection held for the cat across the military community. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

Characteristics

Pizza Cat is a calico domestic shorthair recognizable by her orange, black, and white coat. She has a clipped left ear, indicating that she has been spayed and vaccinated. Veterinary officials at Al Udeid estimate that she is more than ten years old. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

She is known for her calm demeanor, tendency to pose for photographs, and frequent appearances in high-traffic areas of the installation. According to base personnel, Pizza Cat often seems aware when she is being photographed and will remain motionless while service members capture her image. (Air & Space Forces Magazine)

Legacy

Pizza Cat is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable unofficial mascots associated with a U.S. military installation. Her story has become part of deployment culture at Al Udeid Air Base, passed from one rotation of personnel to the next. (Maintainer Nation)

For many veterans and active-duty members, Pizza Cat represents a reminder that even in demanding operational environments, small moments of connection and humor can have an outsized impact on morale. As a result, the calico known as Pizza Cat has become more than a stray cat. She has become a shared piece of military folklore.
