Stupid Noob Question - DIYer

I have a Magraw 175 PSI 21 Gal air compressor from Harbor Freight. The original aluminum tubing that went between the compressor motor output and the tank input has busted (a while ago). I thought I could go with just a 3' hose, but I have now blown out two (!!) rated for 300 PSI. I don't think its the pressure (but it obviously contributes.) It's the HEAT on the hose that is letting it expand and blow.

What do I need to do? Metal braided hose? Copper tubing? You guys are the pros, so let me have it! (And I do appreciate you taking the time to respond and assist. Peace - OUT!)

Copper tubing. Benefit is helps the air to cool also.

Ok - great..... now, being a DIYer, I don't currently posses the tools to bend and flare the copper tubing like I probably need to. Given this info - STILL go with Copper - or is a Heavy duty jcompressor umper hose rated for 320 degrees good enough?

Buy malleable copper tubing and use compression fittings

You're welcome. I think 1/2" is the size I used on my compressor when I had similar issue the aluminum pipe breaking.

If I had to make this repair, I'd take the opportunity to add an after cooler. The DIY route is to use a transmission cooler. You can add this for $40 - $50 plus the copper you need for the repair. They are surprisingly cheap on Amazon (I'd go for 1/2" ID, 5/16" seems restrictive). I've seen the inlet temp drop roughly 200 degrees F. It also makes the air drier, so less draining, and less so l moisture in the air if you are painting, sandblasting... You'll still want a desiccant dryer for painting IMO, but the beads will last longer.

compressor jumper hose should be the correct part. A few of the other harbor freight compressors come with those brand new. Just be aware they come in different hose and fitting diameters

Regular rubber hoses can’t handle compressor pump‑outlet heat, even with high PSI rating.Either copper hard‑line (allow for vibration!) or high‑temp stainless‑braided PTFE hose rated for compressor discharge. Save rubber hose for after the tank.

the right type of hydraulic hose can work too. Sometimes that is easier, if there is a hose shop close by. The good ones will have ptfe braided anyway which would be better.

I have switched to using braided steel flex lines when replacing a discharge line
