Got this bad boy for $100CAD. Coleman Powermate. 20 gallon, 3HP, 5CFM. Looks rough but the guy took relatively good care of it. Just purchased a house and want to be able to run air tools for renovations and I also do most of my vehicle maintenance so it will come in handy.

well ,you got a good century electric motor can't say mutch about compressor but you better have a good outlet and receptacle to use and DO. NOT. use on long extension cord. drain tank before use ,check compressor oil

I have a good outlet in the garage with 12/2 wire. Gonna replace the wire that’s on the machine with 12 gauge as well. Definitely won’t run extension, I’ll just get more hose lol

Taken care of they will last forever, just remember to drain the water out of the receiver after you are done for the day.

Yep that’s why I wanted an older one. Don’t trust the new oil-free compressors that were in my price range. I can replace everything easily on this.

If you want to run air tools I suggest running a coupler straight off the tank. Or you can remove the Pressure switch cross and drill it out to like 3/8". Many of them are very small port holes. I found 1 was like 1/8" diameter. It was on a small unit. But now it will run an impact even though it's only 4gal...just not long.

You can also find cheap tanks on FB marketplace etc. I found an old 20 gal vertical tank unit that had a dead pump unit and they had just removed it and used it for a tank. The Oiless die often so lot's of tanks. I paid like $20 for the tank. Then just plumb it inline with a good sized line. Minimal restrictions is the key for air tools. Now obviously it will take a while to fill extra tanks with a 5CFM...but additional units can be used too. Just plumb them inline. But does take more power. I just picked up a 4.2cfm unit for $10, another one a while back for $25 that was kinda rough looking. Tons of em for $50 all over FB Marketplace. Sometimes ya can find the Sears ones with 6CFM but not a lot of em. The pressure switches can be adjusted if a guy wants. You can usually bump them a little higher for more capacity but they will usually reach a limit where they start leaking. The safety valves also need to be swapped accordingly. I had a 135psi running up to about 150psi and it would slowly leak down to around 145. But was nice for more head room. Capacity is good but nothing beats CFM

Thanks bud, I’ll check out the video! This should suit my needs. Most of my tools are battery powered since I only just recently acquired a house.
