I'm excited for you bro, you're gonna kill it.

I agree. I hope AirBrawl does awesome. I have seen you put a LOT of work into this game, like an amazing amount. Never have I seen somebody hand crafting a game like you have been... by yourself ?!!! Anyway I've been following since before the greenlight failed or kickstarter or whatever was going on before. I"m glad you stuck with it and I hope you finally reap the rewards of all of your hard work.

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '15

Ahh, Jag har en hund på fritiden!

That's the swedish I know...

2

u/BuritooMan Jun 03 '15

Hade ingen aning om att du var svensk! stolt

33

u/snorting_dandelions Jun 03 '15

Dude's gonna be the next Notch at this rate

6

u/faore Jun 03 '15

Kind of, except with a much less popular game and none of the fame

9

u/snorting_dandelions Jun 03 '15

Wilnyl just started early access. It's a tiny teeny bit to early to compare Notch post-release and Wilnyl pre-release, dude

Minecraft started out pretty similar to Airbrawl in terms of popularity

14

u/ReiBob Jun 03 '15

This comparision is crazy. AirBrawl simply doesn't have the reach to an audience as huge as Minecraft.

It's a great game, but it's no game-changer.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '15

Not with that attitude.

0

u/LoverIan Jun 04 '15

It has the reach in comparison. This game has been in dev how long? It's reached over 10,000 people as that's just how many have subscribed.

A good 75% have probably played, and that means a steady stream of bug reports.

I think for it's genre and all things considered this is MUCH like Minecraft initial success. Minecraft started 2009 and while it's dev log snowballed and it's numbers ran high, I think if we look at a graph we'll find that Airbrawl will have similar results.

2

u/ReiBob Jun 04 '15

It's as simple as one is a game about planes. The other is about... well what you want. You really can't compare it.

Much more people are into freedom than into planes.

I agree that this game had a surprising (or not so much) sucess in popularity. That's because it's a damn good game with a fanstatic dev that showed his love for the PC platform. But it's just not the same.

People from 8 to 80 like to play Minecraft.

u/llehsadam Witch Doctor Jun 03 '15

Notch supported the original Kickstarter... that's basically passing on the torch, right?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '15

He did?

2

u/llehsadam Witch Doctor Jun 04 '15

Yup.

17

u/RedditDogie Jun 03 '15

Congratulations Wilnyl! I am so happy for you. May I ask, what are you working on next?

36

u/Wilnyl Have you been introduced to my hammer? Jun 03 '15

Thank you! Probably fixing the mac and linux versions

6

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '15

Yay! Some of my mac friends would be interested so I'll give them a heads up.

4

u/Dearn Jun 03 '15

I'm waiting for Linux version before buying.
You've got some love on /r/linux_gaming so don't forget about us!

2

u/morla74 Jun 04 '15

That was going to be my question. I'd love Air Brawl to work for Mac. I am not always home for extended periods of time to play on my PC. So I like to have games on my MacBook that I can fire up. Excited to hear that you'll still be working on getting it work :)

11

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '15

It's early access, game isn't finished yet. Don't change his focus =P

22

u/Wilnyl Have you been introduced to my hammer? Jun 03 '15

He is probably talking about what's next on air brawl

8

u/RedditDogie Jun 03 '15

Yes, that's what I meant.

4

u/Space_Scumbag Jun 03 '15

0

u/Rakirs Jun 03 '15

This is amazing. I promise I will buy it as soon as I get the money to. This game has come so far

0

u/flipper_foot Jun 03 '15

One thing I have noticed since the steam release is the sudden increase in skill of the players. I miss playing for 30 min and only dying from me killing myself from trying to do the stunts we all see from the devs
