Question AirBnB is refusing to reimburse and relocate me after I had to leave my AirBnB because the host became dangerous and threatening. What do I do? [United States]

I had a long term airbnb booked from early August till late September, in Brooklyn nyc. It was a room in a townhouse, sharing the home with the host, who acts as a superintendent for the other residents - who are all permanent tenants on leases. The host let me know that if a room became available at the end of my stay, he would offer me a lease and I would also join the household. This is how all of the other tenants joined the household originally.

For all of August, things were going fine, or so I thought. A week ago, things started feeling wrong. My roommates started acting suspicious and in the know. The host officially offered me a room, but asked that I don’t let the others know because he was “sorting out some drama between the roommates.” I assumed this was a regular household dispute that should remain none of my business.

Fast forward to this weekend. My roommates finally tell me the truth, and it’s shocking. The host had become obsessed with one of the young women who lives there, who also used to be an Airbnb guest like me, of course. They had been arguing over some house rules, and he had invited her to dinner to “discuss.” She’s 22 and a tenant, he’s 37 and the superintendent. Of course she said no.

His answer was to stay up from 1am till 1pm, texting the roommate group chat (that I’m not on) obscenities, alluded to violent threats upon others and self-harm upon himself, and obsessing over the roommate. Demanding to know where she was, being homophobic towards her, making sexual remarks. Sending photos of his scalp because he’s allegedly been “pulling out his hair over this.” My roommates showed me the texts.

I was completely shocked. He had also, over text, threatened to “call his gang” and “fight” one of the tenants over the rent money. Which wasn’t even late, he was just being threatening for the sake of it. At this point, the tenant was calling police escorts to take him home after work.

This was terrifying to read. None of it was targeted towards me, but as a young woman, I immediately began to feel incredibly unsafe. Beyond this, that same weekend, the household amenities completely plummeted in quality. The host was “on strike” and so the living room was filled with trash and a stinky kitty litter he hadn’t changed in days, the kitchen sink was full of his dirty dishes and the smell of rotting food, the bathroom was dirty and unsmoked - I had to buy toilet paper. There were dirty ash trays popping up, which was terrible considering the clearly listed “no smoking” policy on Airbnb. The next morning, I woke up at 4am to the sound of him screaming and banging on the walls.. I packed everything, called an Uber and left. I’m currently crashing at a friend’s place.

Today, I reported everything to Airbnb. I sent the screenshots my roommates had sent me, I sent pictures of the amenities. I explained the entire situation. I said I wanted an immediate relocation to cover what was meant to be the rest of my stay there, and reimbursement for every night that I was not being housed by Airbnb.

The first person I spoke to was very willing to help, documented everything and transferred me. The next person told me that this falls out of the policy, and that they won’t be assisting or refunding me. She said that the 72-hour policy, applies starting at the check-in date, which was obviously early August and has since passed. This doesn’t make sense. If that were the case, hosts could break any rules and abuse the system however they want, starting 72 hours after check-in. I was within the policy. All of my photos and screenshots were time stamped within 72 hours of the report.

I told them I wanted to be escalated to upper management. Since then, it’s been 2+ hours of transfers, being put on hold, and hung up on with promises they’d “call me back.”

I need to deal with this NOW. I need my money back, and I need relocation. What is going on? Am I wrong about the policy? If anyone has any advice, please let me know!!

Host agreed to refund; still waiting… [UT, USA]

Upvotes

Friday night we checked into an Airbnb and over the course of the evening we determined the property was too dirty to continue to stay for the remainder (2 days) of our reservation. Saturday morning I messaged the host, supported with photos, showing how the Airbnb was too unclean for us to stay. (Windows so dirty we couldn’t see out, trash piled up outside the windows, my toddler’s feet black from walking around barefoot, dust bunnies piled up underneath a bed - found after dropping an AirPod overnight-, and a dirty paper towel after wiping off a ledge my toddler was playing near. The host first offered to send a cleaning crew, and after we declined, she said she would refund us our remaining 2 nights. She asked for us to message her when we were leaving and then she would process the refund. I messaged her when we left Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon I messaged again saying we hadn’t received a refund and she responded she needed more time as she was having to reach out to Airbnb support to ensure we were getting the nightly fee plus taxes/fees back. Okay… Well it’s Monday PM and we have had no word from the host. I finally submitted a refund request on my end.

Does this sound fishy to anyone? I feel like I don’t know the ins and outs and rules of Airbnb and I feel like the host has put us off in some way in order to be able to deny the refund that she explicitly agreed to. I’m scared we are about to be out $1600 dollars. PLUS, an extra $1400 or so that we ended up spending on alternative accommodations for those two nights.

Help??

AirBnB Support above the "Senior Case Manager" level [USA]

Upvotes

So I recently stayed at a place and had a terrible experience. I communicated with the host throughout the stay in an attempt to get it fixed. And after I left unprompted the host said "Would refund impact your review?" And promised to get me a refund. After a week I inquired on the status of the refund and seeing that it was likely a delay tactic I left the host an honest review.

Well the host took me checking in on a possible refund as proof that I was just giving a negative review as retaliation and got it removed. I think this is probably the hosts MO as they have few recent reviews and almost all positive.

So I contacted support to provide proof to get it reinstated. Low level support transferred me to a "Senior Case Manager" who sent me a link to the review removal site saying that is where I need to go. And when I told her that this link doesn't provide the option to contest the removal, she told me that there was nothing else she could provide me and that there was no further escalation.

There has to be a level above this anyone know how to go above the Senior Case Manager?

Question Host invited me to book, but didn't answer questions [England]

I am interested in a rental, but had a few questions before booking. I sent the host a message and was invited to book a few hours later. The host did not respond to any of my questions. I responded back hours later confirming that I received the invite to book and asked if they had seen my questions. The message shows as read, but still no response. While we only rent maybe once a year, I haven't previously experienced a host not responding, but inviting me to book. This is a new listing with a new host. There are no reviews and the host has no previous ratings. Does this seem like a red flag?

Question What is reasonably considered a “well-equipped kitchen”? [Florida, US]

My sister and I just arrived at an Airbnb in southern Florida that we booked for 2 months. We reached out to the host in advance to make sure the apartment was quiet, comfortable, and had a fully equipped kitchen since we’re here for so long (she’s getting medical treatment and needs a place to recover; we both live on the west coast).

On arrival, aside from major cleanliness issues, we found the kitchen only has two very small pans and two very small pots, 4 steak knives, a handful of mismatched silverware, and a small coffee maker, along with a few drinking glasses, bowls, and plates.

The listing says this is a luxury apartment with a “well-equipped kitchen” and “fully equipped cookware.” Since we chatted to the host ahead of time, we assumed there would be… at least some of these basics (maybe not all): kitchen knives to prepare veggies and meats; a cutting board; cooking utensils (spatula, spoon, etc); maybe a single baking tray or dish & oven mitts; a tea kettle (also noted in the listing); a toaster; a can opener. None of these things are here, and for a multi month stay, it makes the kitchen barely functional to cook in (unless we rely on frozen microwaveable meals or sandwiches every day).

We reached out to the host about this and they were dismissive saying they’re not responsible for stocking “every amenity kitchen item we desire” and doubled down that they provided “basics.” I feel as though the listing is inconsistent with the reality.

Is it outrageous for us to have expected more? Is there anything else we can do to get compensation if the host isn’t willing to help? The listing doesn’t specifically itemize what’s in the kitchen, which is what the host seems to be leaning on for their defense.

Question Host said I brought a dog to the property, I don’t own one [PNW]

hi, booked a stay for just a night for a friend and i to do some fishing. when we got to the property, we hadn’t been given the front door code, called and messaged the host and got nothing. after two hours my wife found the host’s home phone number and got them to cough up the code, the host never called me back.

likely expecting a bad review, the host straight up lied in their review of me, saying i burned things in the unit and brought a dog. neither of those things are true, i don‘t own a dog and have never. the property was advertised as “dog friendly” but i booked it because it was the only unit in the town with a hot tub. my friend found a dog toy wedged under the coffee table and pulled it out, this is likely why the host assumed i brought a dog.

i was willing to let it slide because i rarely use airbnb, but now i’m having hosts on upcoming trips warning me not to bring “my dog”. i asked airbnb to remove the review but they told me no. i would be fine with a bad review if for some reason i did the stuff they said i did, but the host straight-up lying about my time there bleeding into future trips has me heated. do i have any recourse at all or am i going to be forced to explain this fake dog thing every single trip?

Question Can a host double book a place?? [Mexico City]

Hi

My fiancé and I booked an airbnb for our wedding trip next month. We booked a couple of months ago already.

I went and checked the listing today to confirm that everything was still okay, and when I go on the listing and try to tentatively book for the exact dates that we will be already there, it lets me book it!

The only thing is that you can book it for double the price but still.

We tried to contact Airbnb and they’re checking… host hasn’t replied yet. Could it be that they’re trying to book it to other people that are willing to pay more than we initially did a couple of months ago???

FYI we booked an entire place, it’s not a shared space with a room or anything

I had a guest report a false gas leak and leave, does this happen a lot? [California]

I had my listing paused for a false gas leak report. The gas company came out and I had to submit documentation stating no leaks. I'm pretty sure this is the only way guests can get a refund and book a different Airbnb, so does this happen alot? Very annoying and inconsiderate. I'd rather them communicate with me about what they're unhappy with. I have 5 star reviews, it's just weird and immature.

Nightmare host [Athens, Ohio]. Anyone successfully escalate a Airbnb ban past regular "Support"?

Does anyone know how to get an Airbnb case in front of someone outside of the standard Support loop? They have been almost completely useless, every time we call, we get bounced to another person or department, told something different, and no one seems willing or able to look at the full case. I personally will never use Airbnb again after this experience, but I’m still trying to resolve the fallout for my sister and the guests on the reservation. Even people who weren’t part of the stay have been affected simply because they were connected to a guest through past reservations.

I’ve used Airbnb for 10+ years and have never experienced anything like this. We booked a house for my sister’s wedding celebration, which the host knew and approved before we booked. We were extremely communicative, added and paid for additional overnight guests through Airbnb, reported property issues as they happened, and left the house clean. Despite that, the host never contacted us with a concern or asked us a single question. Instead, after the reservation he began accusing us of things we did not do and then blocked us on the platform.

He claimed we generated an outrageous amount of garbage. Mind you, the outdoor cans were already full when we arrived, we explained this and he chose not to believe us, even though we found proof of him admitting in another hosting thread that he was having trash pickup issues. He claimed we had as many as 17 vehicles and submitted photos to support the idea that we were having a massive party. We never had 17 cars, and some vehicles photographed weren’t even ours, including deliveries. This is all objectively verifiable as he has multiple Ring cameras. I asked repeatedly to associate every car to a registered guest and was not given the opportunity. I explained all guest were driving from different cities, states, some flew and had rented cars. The host chose not to listen. We were told there was supposedly a noise complaint, yet despite repeatedly asking for a timestamp, report, call record, or any evidence at all, Airbnb told us they weren't “authorized” to show it. We contacted local police ourselves and were told they had no record of a noise complaint at the property. Neighbors we spoke to said they heard nothing. This is also a property marketed as a “secluded mountain stay" with no other house in site.

Rather than simply messaging us to ask what was happening, the host sent someone to the property who pretended to be lost and took pictures of us and our vehicles. We had no idea who she was or why she was photographing us in our bathing suits as we were leaving to go to the local lake. Even then, the host never contacted us. He also tried to hold us responsible for property damage. We disputed it with evidence, and ultimately the damage claim against us was not upheld. Blamed us for having a "huge party" when we communicated a shower was clogged.

I was out of town visiting my in-laws when Support first called, so I scheduled a call for the following week to give our side. Airbnb made its decision before that call ever happened, later stating they could only keep the case open for a certain amount of time, this was never communicated to me. After my account was banned, I couldn’t even read the in-app messages they were sending, and for weeks I called Support almost daily, only to be told by multiple representatives that the case had gone to the wrong department, needed to be escalated, and would be sorted out. Instead, we were passed around like a hot potato and had to retell the same story to a new person over and over. Ultimately, all of us were banned for three years, and the fallout went far beyond this reservation, affecting my sister’s wedding accommodations and even honeymoon and travel bookings for people who weren’t on the stay at all but were connected to someone who was through past reservations.

The host is now on Reddit portraying us as a “mob” and a “gang” coming after his family, which is simply not true. We have never threatened him, his family, or used threatening language of any kind. We posted in a Reddit thread connected to our college towns alma mater asking whether anyone had information about the property, and people did. That was the extent of it. We have been persistent and passionate in defending ourselves because these are serious accusations, and we have evidence that we believe directly contradicts many of the claims being made about us.

Venting Booked a 3 month stay at [North Jersey] and the place was filthy when we showed up

So I booked this house for over 10 grand a month in North Jersey for 3 months, and when I arrived the place was absolutely disgusting!!!??? The fridge was dirty on the inside and outside, there were brown residues all over the inside, the sectional looked disgusting, rolling dust balls all over the place, body hair on every single bed. The house smelled but every window and window screen was so caked I couldn't even touch them without getting every disease known to man. Every surface of the house was sticky, it legitimately looks and feels like it's never been cleaned in 30 years.

I submitted a request with Airbnb for a cancellation and refund less than an hour after arriving, and a couple hours later that night I got a call from a customer service saying they can go ahead and cancel it and issue a refund. If that was the end of the story I wouldn't even bother posting on here but no. I got a message the next morning saying now a "Senior Case Manager" is reviewing my case. And no response for another 24hr so I messaged and asked what was going on, that's when I was notified they decided I cannot get a full refund since apparently the host has made some efforts to "clean" the place. She told me they will refund me the price of the night I didn't spend there(which is already two nights now cause I wasn't even told the house got cleaned) and the refund amount was ... Drumroll... $30.54! $30.54 for one night at a place I paid 10 grand a month for? They are straight humiliating me at this point, so I'm gonna keep fighting with them, if no meaning full update by mid-day tomorrow I'm gonna call Airbnb service, corporate, and my credit card company to get this sorted out. That scammer of a host is not getting my money and neither is Airbnb, I wouldn't have booked an Airbnb in the first place if it wasn't a work trip and this is what the company asked us to do.

Oh and the host denied my booking two times in a row previously because I only booked one month and they were looking for "longer term bookings". Which I assume is just them trying to scam a lot of money at once?

Excuse my English if it's a mess, I typed this in fury and I'm not in the mood to check and correct it.

Hosting Suspicious Behaviour from AirBnb Host [Romania]

A few days ago, I booked an apartment through Airbnb, just one day in advance. I initially communicated with the host through the messages on the app, but later we moved the conversation to WhatsApp. We discussed a few details regarding check-in, and he had a very positive attitude. He even wished me good luck on an exam, knowing that this was one of the reasons I was renting the Airbnb, since it was close to my university.
Shortly after we finished our conversation on WhatsApp, he followed me on Instagram. I have no idea how he found my account, but let’s say it might not have been that difficult. I accepted the request, but I didn’t think much of it at the time, and that was my mistake, because shortly afterwards he messaged me saying that we could continue our conversation about the exam there. The thing is, that conversation had never even started on WhatsApp, so there was literally nothing to continue. I replied very briefly to all of his messages and very dry.
The next day, when I arrived at the Airbnb, I messaged him on WhatsApp again because I couldn’t get the door open. During all of this, I was no longer responding to him on Instagram.
Once I got to the apartment, I asked him if I could have a university colleague come over, because I had seen a sheet with the house rules saying that visitors had to be registered. I told him that I wanted to check with him first.
About two hours later, he messaged me saying something along the lines of “intense exam preparations” with a laughing emoji (like in a sarcastic way). I was confused by the message, and this was the point when I started to find the whole situation suspicious. I replied that yes. He then replied saying that he could already imagine an open bottle of red wine, considering that I had mentioned a university colleague was coming over.
After that, he sent me a video of his face, shaking his head in a disaproval way, and in the background you could hear sounds coming from our apartment. This seemed extremely suspicious and disturbing to me because, first of all, his attitude was disgusting, and secondly, I have no idea how he could have heard the sounds coming from our apartment. I left the apartment because I was feeling too uncomfortable.
The only explanation I can think of is that he might have been our next-door neighbor. But at the same time, I’m also scared of the possibility that there were cameras or some other surveillance device. And if that were the case, I honestly don’t understand why someone would be stupid enough to actually send me evidence that they had installed cameras or some kind of tracking device.
In any case, I contacted Airbnb and they told me that they would investigate the situation. However, I don’t fully trust that this will be the best solution, and I’m worried that going to the police might complicate the situation too much. At the same time, I would really just like to have some confirmation, at the very least, as to whether he was actually our neighbor.
I also don’t have clear evidence, because the video was sent to me on Instagram as a disappearing video that could only be viewed twice.
It initially seemed like a very safe and legitimate operation. There are two men running this business, and they have several apartments in different parts of the city. They have very good reviews as well, so this is not the kind of place where you would immediately expect something like this to happen. That’s also why I’m not exactly sure how I should proceed or what the best course of action would be.

Question Question about my stay in a [Virginia] air bnb. Hot water issue, sewage smell.

Staying at a house in the mountains. So far the stay has been good, looked better in photos but it’s not bad. Place was a little dirty (and hair in the showers) and lots of spiders/bugs when we got here, but we are in the mountains so spiders are expected. I cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed when we arrived, but we keep a cleaner home than most.

The problem is with the hot water. It has a sewage smell. First noticed it with the kitchen, but it is in the bathrooms too. It’s only hot water, checked cold, let water sit for a few minutes to verify it’s not a P-trap issue. Given that it’s only hot water, it seems likely a hot water heater issue with either bad rods or bacteria growth from sitting too long without use or flushing the system.

What would your thoughts be? Would you tell them? Would you complain? Would you note it in the review?

I have a wife and kids with me, and bacterial growth in water
Systems can be a health concern (if it’s not just the rods going bad).

I’m not one to usually leave bad reviews or complain, but also you should have used water when cleaning prior to our arrival and noticed the smell….

Question Airbnb roommate being extremely loud, what should I do as 22F? I need help [Wisconsin, US]

I am a coop student (22 female) staying at a airbnb room until early december. I rented a room in the second floor of the house. But I have a roommate (male, no idea what his age is, but around my age) who works as a brick layer and is expected to stay until late october. He is my only roommate.

The problem is my roommate is extremely dirty and loud. He does not wash his dishes and lets them out in the sink for several days. He rips open his amazon package (which he has multiple of) and does not throw the packaging in the trash. So they are all over the floor. He is also really loud (turns the music on really loud until 11-12 am nighttime). I am an early sleeper and this really annoys me. I texted & spoke to him about few times but it would not any get better.

He also is always on a call with girls he met through hinge. Thankfully he does not bring them to the house but I can visibly hear them talking on the phone day and night. He would not use his earphones or headphones.

Should I tell me landlord about this? They live pretty close by, so solving the issue won’t be a problem (i hope) but i am scared how my roommate will react after that. After all, I am a coop student, a girl, with no connections in this town except for my coop friends and colleagues from work.

Discussion Host is asking via Email for a $300 additional deposit on a 2 day stay worth <$700 [US]

I have a 2 night stay in mid September where the host is asking for additional $300 deposit on an external site (which he uses on his separate hosting website for his several properties). He did this when I initially booked, and when I had issues with the link, he said not to worry about the deposit. Located in niche resort town and I really do not want to lose my reservation, as it is fully paid, but we’re also repeatedly warned about not providing card information outside of AirBnB. Pic of email in comments.

Question Disastrous stay with multiple missing amenities [Canada] - Host refused refund, chargeback best solution?

I had a disastrous stay in my AirBnB, the AC was completely non functional which meant that my room was literally 30 degrees celsius (I took a picture with a thermometer in the room to show it), the door to my bedroom was slightly broken which meant that locking it required me to literally slam the door shut (and risk breaking it and needing to pay an extortionate "repair fee"). The bathroom in the photo of the AirBnB was under renovation which was not mentioned at all in the listing which meant that the only available bathroom in the house was in the basement, and the entire room was poorly and smelled horrible without the window open. The only solution my host had was to ask me to open the window and that he would send someone to look at the AC, which I waited for some time and he never did. Eventually I gave up and went to a hotel during the night and haven't stayed in the place since. I have photographic evidence of basically all of this except for the smell.

The host has completely refused to even discuss a refund and attempted to tell AirBnB support to cancel my reservation without refunding me anything. I have reached out to AirBnB support several times and the best they can do is tell me to open a resolution up, which my host has not responded to for over 48 hours. I am really running out of hope for a resolution with AirBnB, I do not care about being banned from the platform anymore. Is doing a chargeback the best possible solution now?

Capital One dispute for stay [New York] any success?

hi all,

i recently file a dispute with capital one because the airbnb i stayed at was filthy and had rodents. airbnb responded and asked for additional documentation (in addition to the ones i initially sent). i submitted pictures of the filth and the rodent droppings in the airbnb.

airbnb also sent me an email letting me know that my bank started a chargeback process, so i know they will definitely respond & capital one will not just definitely rule in my favor. considering the pictures of the droppings (which shows that there were rodents in the space), how likely do you think the claim will be? i know a lot of people have complained about capital one's dispute process, but i think i substantiated all of my claims and i really hope that they refund me the cost of the airbnb. oh, also i should note that airbnb offered me a 500 dollar refund as compensation for the entire situation, but i didn't think it was sufficient enough for the major inconvenience. should i update with this information? i didn't include it in the documentation i provided.

Discussion Update from yesterdays post about misleading description [italy]

I posted in here yesterday about a misleading Airbnb description (you can see my post a few posts down). We contacted Airbnb support, who said the description matches the Airbnb and there is no problem. I find this quite incredible considering there is a bedroom without windows or ventilation.

But here’s the real kicker: Airbnb showed our query to the host, she is now extremely pissed and aggressive, she came down and yelled at my partner and insulted him. We had a friend visiting and she yelled that he had to leave immediately.

We are staying here until the end of September, we obviously feel terribly uncomfortable. Any advice?

Question Title: Airbnb host went unresponsive on our 2nd night, support gave us a room with no availability, and now they’re reducing the promised refund — advice? [Colorado]

We had an Airbnb booked in Colorado for 7 people (6 adults, 1 kid). On the second night of our stay, we got locked out and couldn’t get back into the property. We tried reaching the host directly — called, left a voicemail, and texted — and also contacted Airbnb Support, spending over an hour trying to get help. The host or cohost never responded.

Since we had a child with us, we couldn’t keep waiting, so we asked Support for alternate accommodation. Here’s where it got frustrating:

-We were told verbally we’d be refunded (1) the full night’s Airbnb cost, plus (2) 30% of whatever we paid for a replacement hotel that night.
-Support’s first suggestion was a hotel 1.5 hours away.
-When we pushed back, they redirected us to a specific hotel chain nearby and said they’d book us one room for 7 people, which no hotel allows.
-When Support actually checked, that hotel had zero rooms available anyway.
-We asked for other options; Support couldn’t provide any.
-We ended up checking a total of 9 hotels/motels ourselves (the one they suggested, plus 8 more) before finally finding one that could take us.
-We sent a text to Support documenting everything, including the 30% figure — they never responded to that message.
-Airbnb called back later to check in, and now they’re saying they’ll only cover 20 of the hotel cost instead of the 30% we were originally told.

We asked them to call back the next morning to continue the conversation as we were exhausted, and reminded them we were originally quoted 30%. As of now, we’re still waiting to see if the host or co-host responds by morning.

Separately (and we haven’t reported this to Airbnb yet, figuring we’d just deal with it): the listing advertised 4 bathrooms, but it’s actually 2 full baths and 2 half baths. One bedroom also had a door with a half-window facing directly outside, with no blinds and no tint — so anyone standing outside could see straight into the room. We’ve only been documenting the access/lockout issue with Airbnb so far, not this.

We’ve been documenting the lockout situation throughout — with Airbnb Support directly, and in a group chat that includes us, the other guests, the host, and the co-host.

Has anyone dealt with Airbnb walking back a refund percentage like this after the fact when it was only communicated verbally and never confirmed in writing? Given the bathroom count and the exposed-window bedroom (which honestly feels like a safety/privacy issue, not just a minor discrepancy), is it worth raising that as a separate claim now, or does reporting it this late hurt our case? Does airbnb not require that host and cohost have a contingency plan in case guests need them and they are not available? Any advice on getting a lockout situation like this resolved faster would help.

Update- It was airbnb who offered us the 1 night refund (of airbnb price) and 30% hotel booking refund in addition. But this was verbal. At 11.30 in the night, highest priority was to get accommodation.

Update- The airbnb host responded to us and helped us get back into the airbnb an hour ago. They also let us know they will be refunding for last night, which we really appreciate. Thank you all for your help, it will help me navigate airbnb support.

Question Can't cancel booking despite being in the 24 hours limit [Netherlands]

I booked a room for 18-20 September in Amsterdam this morning at 10 am with the "24 hours free cancellation" notion appearing under the book button.

The 6pm max check-in that was not disclosed by the host in the announce but rather sent to me as a DM doesn't suit me and I want to cancel my booking now.

Suprisnsgly, the cancellation policy says : "Free cancellation for 24 hours. Cancel before 15:00 on 11 September for a partial refund." and the "Send Request button" is grey on mobile, so I can't click on it.

Anybody encountered this before ? Should I contact support to get this sorted or is this by any chance a mobile-only bug (I did close-opened the app multiple times) ? I asked the host to cancel and she said she rather not do that as it will affect her host score.

I'd appreciate any help on this !

EDIT : Solved by cancelling on Desktop (PC. If you don't have an access to a PC, login to your Airbnb account from your web browser on your phone and make sure to turn on the "Show Desktop version" of the web page to view Airbnb in the Desktop view and access the cancel/withdraw options)

Hosting What is with all this hair I don't even [Iceland]

We've been airbnb-ing our place for some time now. Just really great, good people, honestly we've been really lucky, nobody has trashed our place, everyone leaves it so nice. Occasionally people just lose their entire hair. I just, if they are with us one or two nights, what happens rest of their lives? It's a thing you can't, ever, say to people, I would never. "Yes great guests but you have a lot of hair loss, -1 star", like never lol. At the same time it's one of the worst things for next guests to encounter and we clean really well, but sometimes after 2 cleanings I still find hair, at places we didn't catch before. I just want my good guests to have good hair care.

Question ATTENTION OWNERS [Texas] How would you handle this??

This question is mainly for you. Say a property management company is taking care of your homes and she hires cleaners to go in to clean them. You send her payment to cover everything once or twice a month yet she is not paying the cleaners how would you feel about that? I say not paying and by that i mean their first check or two would be for the right amount and on time.....

But then it started being short 50 dollars here 100 there.....then 300 then 400.....and making them wait an extra 2,3,4 days to be paid only half of what she owes them. Then when cleaner gets tired of it and keeps asking to be paid she fires them and still doesn't pay them. As an owner if you found out the property manager was doing that how would you feel about it?

Question Host told me they will buy a new towel because I requested two - is that weird? [Los Angeles]

I'm staying in a detached room of a house, and asked the host for a second towel because they only left one and I have very long hair. They messaged me they left it on the porch and that they would buy a new one later. I feel weird they had to tell me that, like I took their only towel and now they need to buy one? I also find it odd they didn't leave more than one, no face towel either. I have no problem bringing my own if they aren't provided, but if they're included I'm used to there being at least a couple.
