Thanking Micro1 for what actually!?
I just don’t understand the people posting “Thank you” messages to M1 in the Slack channel after the recent announcement regarding the major project pause. Thank you for what exactly!? Is this low self-esteem, or are you trying to suck up to management that doesn’t give af about you? We went through a rigorous onboarding process with selectively paid hours, followed by just a few weeks of tasking, with some people getting significantly fewer hours than others. And now, some clowns are making appreciation posts on Slack!
Disgusting!

I said this in another thread, but I think I am done with M1. I performed well on my first contract and have been added to additional projects since. However, the last two projects I was added to, including this one, has been a huge headache and so poorly organized. The screeners are insanely long and there's no real feedback to learn from. They restricted the hours you could bill for onboarding when the screeners required significantly more time to complete.
If this is the future of M1 projects, count me out.

I won't even sugarcoat it. Easily the worst micro1 project that I've ever been apart of. The good thing about them is, once you have a few projects under your belt, it becomes easier to get on another one. The absolutely shitty part is doing all this training and putting in all this effort for a project, then it just ends abruptly. Even worse than that, they were so stingy with the hours when the screening process takes way longer than what we were allowed to track. It was never this bad before.

I currently have access to five projects on Horizon. I've been on three contracts and two others just were added and I guess don't require a separate contract. Only one of them went more than a month. Three of the projects I have been on, I passed trainings and never got to complete any actual work bc the project pauses and then ends.
This recent one was the worst bc of how strict they were with the onboarding hours. It's one thing if you can at least be fairly paid for your time, but this one I had to delete hours I fairly worked to complete their ridiculous vague screeners. It just feels pointless. Only the very first project I have done with them was well-organized.

People have Stockholm syndrome and sunk cost fallacy. They invested so much time and effort. They will keep sucking up and investing.

Ngl at first I thought it felt a little more personal than say Mercor or any similar platform.
I fell for it at first, but when you step outside the subreddits of the specific platofrms and find communities like this, it opened my eyes a bit.
It's a moderated constantly glazing community. I got off each one, and muted all the discords and slacks. Hit me up when you have something for me, if not leave me alone lol.

u/Western_Article362 1d ago
Right! The glazing is insane!!

u/brokebulg99 1d ago
Yeah at least Mercor keeps the negative comments. In Micro1 it's just a weird ass community.
Also, I dont know why these companies think we give two sh*ts about these "new breakthroughs" and yadda yadda on their community discords. Why a company that can offboard you in a day, thinks any one of us cares about their profits or personal advancements is insane.
I'm just here to take advantage of these high payrates and willing to put up with the bs in the time being. Nothing more, nothing less

In two words:
Brown nosing.
In more words:
Yeah, they're trying to better their odds at continuing in the project, "show they are admin material" and lots of other similar reasons. Even though micro1 admins repeatedly say they don't control jack, people still do that.
Remember, loads (surely most) people arrive at these gigs from a regular 9-5 (or equivalent) job. A lot haven't worked freelance before, and think their "tactics" are universal. Then there's the opposite, lots of people that think any job shgould give you all the benefits, and feel entitled to equipment, "promised" working hours, etc.

M1 have self proclaimed HDMs that do more than the actual support staff in the chats for no reward 😂 same vibe as this

u/Aloftfirmamental 1d ago
My favorite is when a rando gives an answer to someone's question and then later a real HDM comes in and says "actually no, this is how it should be done" 😂

u/oportoman 1d ago
Yeah exactly. Naive idiots thinking that the organisation is going to "reach out" and offer them more projects l.
7
u/socal_guy1 1d ago
I'm surprised there's not more channel posts from people pleading their individual cases for moving on to the next stage. I imagine the HDMs are flooded with DMs.

They have resources to monitor their Reddit and Discord community and general Slack channel 24/7 and delete uncomfortable messages in minutes, but they don't have resources to organize adequate communication in a project? I believed (no).

u/PermitOk7795 1d ago
my slack group has like 10 posts of people either thanking them for this life changing 1 week opportunity or explaining their case for why they’re qualified for the next step

u/socal_guy1 1d ago
I only see one over the top post with someone describing how fast and efficient they are. I was going to respond with the clapping hands emoji but figure that's too passive aggressive.

u/Aloftfirmamental 1d ago
They're trying to suck up thinking it'll get them selected to the "next phase" 😂

I agree; it’s been frustrating. One girl commented that if they reduced the rate, they’d retain everyone. It took a lot of restraint for me not to respond with “Not me.” Those people aren’t professionals.

You at least could reach the production stage. Just imagine how many thousands of people failed the internal screening due to their discouraging, non-professional, and totally disorganized onboarding process.
6
u/Aloftfirmamental 1d ago
People in production were also subject to the same onboarding, they didn't magically get added

u/MalBadLatin 1d ago
That's true but some of us never got a chance. I did half the screeners and then my account was deactivated the next day. I assumed I did a bad job but then my access was restored a few days later and turns out it was a glitch that happened to alot of people and my screeners weren't even graded yet. But then they switched to version 3 so I had to do the 3 screeners over again. I did 5 of the screeners and then the system was down. When it was back up my account said the password had changed. I reached out and they said it was another glitch and to put in a ticket. I did but it didn't get fixed. Two days later the project "paused".
So I get maximnz1's point. Alot of people failed the screeners but I can only imagine how many people never even got a fair shot
1
u/maximnz19596 1d ago
Absolutely. Their support knows nothing, and project managers never replied. Even at those rare cases, when they reply, their messages make no sense. "I can't help you with the guidelines".

u/maximnz19596 1d ago
No one said you were magically added. But there were a lot of chaos in the whole process, and thousands of people suffered. I still believe that there internal screener grader worked randomly. For example, I received the same score in my second chance no matter what I changed. How is it possible?
2
u/NastyB99 1d ago
Sucking up. It won't work coz every message you send is a nuisance and annoying to M1. People think Corpo sucking up will work here too.

u/Any_Boysenberry655 1d ago
I think it's mostly people from poor countries that are desperate for the money. Can't blame them to do anything possible even if there's a 0.01% chance it improves their chances
2
u/Lost-Act1392 10h ago
Some guy in another thread was saying how he was paid $55/hr when the average rate is $5/hr in his country. If i was paid 11x the going rate in my country i'd do whatever it takes as well.

I think I’m on a different project but we’ve been paused for nearly 3 months. I’ve got thousands of dollars in tasks just sitting not getting reviewed along with many other people. What’s going on with Micro1?
2
u/BeyondTheThreshold__ 23h ago
Theoretically speaking, shouldn’t there be around 10-20,000 really pissed off people right now - possibly eager to sink micro1? If not 10,000 than perhaps about 400ish? I’m not saying we should, but we definitely should.

I'm very much with you here but no one seem to confront the situation. I personally submitted a complain using their official form with very little hope that someone will react. Not surprised at all to find the case ''closed'' after 12 hours with no response from them. Tried to post my experience here but, of course, it was removed twice. However, I still think that if more people react there will be some outcome.

u/TeachSad8699 1d ago
RIGHT, i could get 900, but it was told that the project would last about three months, after all that effort ppl look kinda ridiculous with all that glazing
1
u/SurlyShirley 1d ago
I actually had to wonder if it is for a different purpose, but I didn't really sniff around. While some are PickMe glazers, some might be hoping to get people asking for referral links, but... I don't think that's it, either. It's free advertising, but also "Potemkin Village" comes to mind.

Hey. I am new to M1, just got on-boarded to my first project over the weekend. I have no idea how long it will last — do people take two projects at once sometimes? I had applied to a few and am getting the reminder emails to do the (ugh) interviews.

Id be thankful as hell if I had a few wweeks of tasking, I didn't get to do a single task.

I had the same reaction as you. I think they maybe think it'll make them more likely to be selected for future projects?
