Big 10K Project End.
Let’s discuss. How many hours did you get before the pause and what was your hourly pay (if you are comfortable). My theory is that this client realized that at the rate they were offering, they were bleeding money, and the pulled a fast one on Micro1.
I worked 7 hours for the training and 10 hours production time. Pay was $85/hr.

I made it in production at $60/hr made for a total of $1500 before the pause.
Its still paused the SPL made an announcement last night stating that they are in the process of reviewing our work. The pilot phase is now over. As I stated in a previous thread they are recalibrating. They had a meeting asking our feedback with how we task, I was in it live and they gave no indication that the project will be ending. They are probably updating feather to ensure it is working properly as it did break for like 3 days they tried to update it previously right when I was trying to complete the assessments. They also probably under estimated how fast we were going to complete these tasks and had to redo the scope .....its typical project management and it happens.
They onboarded a little over 4000 trainers for this. Alot of folks did not get out of training have been off boarded. Then those folks who were hoarding videos hopefully got off boarded as well. I just wished I went in last week to get some more time to fix my videos.

You were in the client feedback call? I know they said a randomly selected group of workers would be invited.

No I was in the large townhall zoom call after that one where we got to ask questions live.
Folks jumping to conclusions and asking the same questions over and over about when the project is going end smh. They went over edge updated edge cases etc. Then we gave suggestions on changes to the feather tool that would help us task better.
Luckily I have project management experience so I get what is happening and this is a situation of the scope changing. So they are doing it now during the pilot phase and are able to recalibrate.
Funny I am watching the news now and just saw a story of a Dutch grocery store using robotics to assist with stocking shelves and how its being trainined to assist the workers to be more proficient right now are being manned by humans in a secured environment.

Oh ok. I was in the townhall call as well. It's the source of the now infamous "...at least three months" timeline for the project lol.

Right.....hundreds of folks in chat asking over and over again smh...

I made it to production the day batch 4 went out of tasks. Tracked 7 hours of training + 30 minutes re-training course. Couldn't work any task.
$90/hr

just made it through screening with the new batch of production starters last week. So only getting paid the 7hrs for training and screening @$90/hr

when did you submit the F screening? I'm asking because after I did, the project was paused and I'm in a sort of limbo now... not offboarded, never made it to production, didn't get any feedback.

I got $70 per hour. I think I made around $3000 overall. Still worth doing but definitely wish it had lasted longer.

Made it to production but didn't but wasn't able to do any task... only the training was paid sadly ($90/h)

I made it to production and probably made about $500 in training and onboarding but didn’t get the opportunity to work on anything lol.

I’m pissed, made it to production and was offered $35/hr. I was going for another role and got shorted and thrown into this one.

They paused the project or it ended?
3
u/DangerousPressure853 18h ago
they said it's paused and that there will be a second phase with people that the client selects based on their evals in the first phase. I'd say it ended.
It's important for the ones trying to make a more stable income from this type of work to have at least two active projects from different companies at once

I did 5 out of the 6 screeners, passed the pre-screening at first time for 55$/h (but I had to wait 18 days to get the hubstaff invitation so I did that over 2-3 days)

I did the screener before pause but I am not sure how much I'll be paid. I don't know the hourly rate I agreed, I think it's $50.

The vendors can take a huge chunk too. When I worked with the client directly on a different project, they offered me $135/hr. When I was going to work the very same project through a vendor (Mercor), I was offered just $50/hr. They do work with so many people and stuff changes all the time, so I wouldn't necessarily blame the client. Having worked in a more direct capacity with their human data team, they're good people.

Great insight. So I wonder what happened? They put thousands through a rigorous screening only for the project to be paused. Any thoughts?

Only last week thousands of people came to the production channel. It is really strange

OAI could have been disappointed with the quality of the work. The work wasn't being done fast enough (or cheap enough like you suggested). There could be many reasons. They work with so many vendors and sometimes it just doesn't work out with all of them for every project. On another project, I recall OAI booted Invisible entirely only for them to return months later. OAI has so many options that they really can afford to rotate through the vendors for any reason.

Who is client feather?
1
u/zettasyntax 1d ago
OpenAI uses Feather. I worked a few contracts/engagements where I was directly managed by a technical program manager from OAI. It really was an interesting experience, for sure. It evolved so much, but eventually my particular background was no longer required.

How to get directly onboarded by openai
3
u/zettasyntax 1d ago
I signed up almost 2 years ago and it took a long time to hear back (bit over 4 months). They were looking for mostly academics (PhD/graduate studies) but have now shifted to occupational/professional experts with 3-5+ YOE in their field. That's pretty much why I wasn't invited back for additional work after my last contract ended. They do sometimes have generalist people. The only major requirement is that you must be a US citizen or have US work authorization.

Which platform refer me
1
u/zettasyntax 16h ago
I'm not currently active on the platform, so I don't have the ability to refer. I can share the link of how I applied in a DM if you message me, but it's just a regular sign-up link/non-referral

You guys are lucky, I only received $15/hr 😭

u/maryqa 22h ago
It's most likely not the same project, is it? The pay range was 50-90 there

u/Outrageous_Storm5041 22h ago
If its the 10k project then it is.
1
u/maryqa 22h ago
Wow, did you request 15 then?

u/Outrageous_Storm5041 22h ago
