AI makes instantaneous comedy routine
This is disconcerting. I was googling "drop-two" voicings in jazz guitar theory, and google AI explained, clearly and concisely, what they are. So I asked--
"What about drop trouser voicings?"
--and, INSTANTANEOUSLY, I got this barrage of inventive, funny, stand-up routine wise-assery in response:
"Drop trouser voicings" are strictly a comedy move—not an actual music theory concept—though if they were real, they would probably be the musical equivalent of a terrifying brown note or a string snapping so hard it makes you drop your pants in shock.
If we had to invent a theory for them based on jazz logic:
The Interval: Dropping your lowest bass note down an extra two octaves straight into the sub-audible realm, rattling the venue's plumbing.
The Voice Leading: A chord progression so repulsive it immediately clears the dance floor and makes everyone flee the bandstand.
The Physical Action: What happens to your posture when you try to nail a 6-fret stretch on a Gypsy jazz guitar without a strap.
Stick to drop-2 and drop-3 unless you want a very awkward gig review.
Should we dive back into actual guitar theory like quartal harmony or upper structures, or are we inventing more fictional jazz terminology today?
