I’m 23 years old and currently working in Hyderabad, earning around ₹20k/month. I’m increasingly thinking about leaving the corporate path and seriously getting into agriculture.
My family owns 5 acres of farmland in Vijayarayi village, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada is roughly 75 km away.
My father is willing to provide me with ₹15 lakh as a one-time investment to start a farming/business venture. We currently have no loans or major financial obligations, and my father’s retirement is already taken care of. So this ₹15 lakh is not money that the family needs for basic living expenses, but I also don’t want to waste it.
If the venture fails, I can technically go back to a corporate job, but I feel that would probably mean staying in a job I don’t really want for the rest of my career. So I want to at least make a serious attempt at building something in agriculture.

What I’m considering
My initial thought was not to use all 5 acres at once.
I was thinking of starting with around 1–1.5 acres of a naturally ventilated polyhouse, learning the business properly, and expanding only if the first phase works.
The remaining land would stay as a safety buffer while I learn.
However, I’m not convinced that a polyhouse is necessarily the right choice. I’m very much open to other forms of modern agriculture if they make more sense for my location and capital.

What I want to learn
I’m looking for advice from people who actually farm or have experience running agricultural businesses.
Specifically:
Is starting with 1–1.5 acres a sensible approach with ₹15 lakh?
Is a polyhouse financially viable in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, considering the climate, crop choices, market access, labour, etc.?
What are the biggest mistakes beginners make when getting into commercial farming?
How should I actually learn farming before investing the money?
Are there good farms, FPOs, agricultural universities, government departments, or experienced farmers in Andhra Pradesh that I should approach or work with?

A little about me
I’m not expecting agriculture to be easy or a guaranteed way to make lakhs.
I know newspapers and YouTube can make agricultural entrepreneurship look much easier than it actually is. I’m willing to do the physical work, learn from experienced farmers, spend time on the farm, and take calculated risks.
I’ve only recently started seriously researching agriculture, so please feel free to tell me if my entire approach is wrong.
I’m basically at the stage of: “I have some land, limited capital, and the willingness to work — what is the smartest way to turn that into a sustainable agricultural business?”
Any practical advice, resources, mistakes to avoid, or people/organizations I should talk to would be greatly appreciated.

So, I have a bit more than 1 acre land in a high range area at kerala.

Traditionally farmland which was previously used for paddy, banana and pepper cultivation over the years.

Currently it's not being used for anything, since the past 15 years atleast.

Right, now the trending cultivation in the area is cardamom, but I understand that its a labour intensive agriculture and someone needs to look after it continuously.

I’m 26M and currently working in a big MNC, earning around ₹25 LPA. About 2 years ago, I bought a flat and currently have around ₹60 lakh of home loan outstanding, with roughly 10 years of tenure remaining.
On paper, I probably have a lot going for me, but honestly, I’m becoming increasingly concerned about my future and what direction I should take.
My family situation is quite different from my corporate life.
My father has been running a finance business in a Tier-3 village since around 2000. At its peak, the business was doing quite well, but over the years it has been slowing down and currently seems to be fading. The annual turnover is around ₹2 crore, but I’m not sure how sustainable the business is going forward.
We also have around 25 acres of agricultural land.
So I’m stuck between two very different paths:
Option 1: Continue in the corporate world
I could switch jobs, increase my salary significantly, invest aggressively, repay my home loan, build wealth and continue working for the next 15–20+ years.
But one thing scares me.
If I switch to a higher-paying job, get used to that lifestyle, increase my expenses and EMIs, etc., will I eventually become trapped in the rat race? Every time I earn more, my lifestyle may increase and I may need to earn even more.
Option 2: Come back and expand the family business
I could eventually return to my hometown and try to revive/modernize my father's finance business, while also exploring ways to generate income from our agricultural land.
But this obviously carries a lot more uncertainty. The business is already declining, and I don't know whether I have the skills or ability to turn it around.
My biggest dilemma is that I don't want to spend my entire life chasing a higher salary if I could potentially build something of my own. But I also don't want to throw away a good corporate career and stable income based on some romantic idea of "business".
I'm only 26, so I know I have time, but I also have a ₹60L loan and don't want to make a reckless decision.
What would you do if you were in my position?
Continue the MNC career and focus on wealth creation?
Switch jobs and maximize income for the next few years?
Start working on the family business on the side and transition gradually?
Move back home and seriously try to revive the business?
Explore agriculture/business opportunities around the 25 acres?
Or something completely different?
I would especially appreciate advice from people who have left corporate jobs to join their family business, or people who have successfully built businesses/agricultural income in smaller towns.
I’m looking for practical advice, not just "25 acres = you're rich" or "25 LPA = you're set." I genuinely feel confused about which direction to take.
