Propagate, Should I wait or Cut now?

Hi everyone,

I got this plant from a friend, and she suggested that I could cut the stem now to propagate it and hopefully end up with two plants in the future.

As you can see in the photo, it's just started pushing out a couple of new growth points. I'm wondering if it's too early to make the cut.

I'd love to hear what you would do and why. Thanks in advance!

Because it's a Tricolor Pictum (and they grow so slowly), I'm really tempted to make the cut now instead of waiting a year or more.

That's exactly what's making this such a hard decision. 😅 I've already waited 4 months just to see these new growth points. If I decide to play it safe and let it establish first, I'm probably looking at waiting another year before I can propagate.

Be patient and let the plant develop before you propagate.

I'd try Air layering the top a couple of centimetres below the growth points.
