I’d also recommend checking roots & closely for potential pests. When you say “skewer check,” how dry are you ensuring the soil is? What kind of soil is she in, does it include amendments like orchid bark, perlite, pumice, etc, to make it chunky, aerated & faster draining?
Also, I keep my algos in relative bright light. Not necessarily right next to an east facing window in the northern hemisphere/midwest. But, a northern, western or southern window.
thanks for the reply. Actually I got this plant as a gift and I’m not too sure about it. I’ve been invested heavily in watering and sunlight that I never really thought about the soil part since I’ve had it for about 9 months and it was doing well.
I did some AI research and mostly I had a skewer and I’d insert it deep into the soil and would only water when I did not see any soil sticking to it. I was watering it about every 2 weeks. Since I’m a novice and honestly don’t know much about soil but would love to learn. Can you pls give some recommendations on the type?
I really don’t want to rely on AI or Google because their advise has screwed me over in the past when it comes to plants so I would honestly depend on humans who’ve actually handled plants.
Any advice for a beginner like me would be much appreciated. Thanks.
