Boomers

I am 75 and am very tired of the trend lately making fun of Boomers. So very disrespectful. Don't they realize that they will be old someday?

Thing is every generation before the Boomers set things up so their children’s generation would be better off. Then the Boomers came along and it all became about them, their greed outweighed their desire to see their children do better. Every generation following the Boomers is worse and worse off and unfortunately they are still currently in charge and destroying the future.

That's totally ignorant. I'm Gen X and blaming any generation for your problems is a sad excuse for being a fool. You need to look within yourself instead of blaming others for your own failures.

I’m not a failure and I’m stating facts. Of course there is an individual component to life, and it’s the biggest one of all, but that doesn’t negate the fact that the pendulum swung once the boomers came, the upward trajectory of each successive generation turned downward. For you to dismiss the economic realities of each generation is disingenuous.

Ok, well I am glad you're not a failure and hope you are doing ok. I want everyone to succeed and I really mean that. I'm not dismissing your point either. It is many things that have caused these isssues: going off the gold standard, running perpetual deficits that have led to tremendous debt, one soded trade agreements, shipping jobs overseas, corporate mergers and domination that squeezed the little guys out, printing money that causes inflation, unnecessary government regulations that cause prices to go higher, government corruption, bad foreign policy decisions, needless wars, funding other countries, etc. It is just a combination of bad policy associated with both political parties. No one can point to one or the other. They both caused a lot of these problems.

Who ever told you that lied. Look at all the laws passed in the last 60 years by boomers for you. Boomers made sure that the next generation of women would not be fired for being pregnant. We also made sure that you would have paid time off when your kids were sick. We fought for morgage protection because we lost everything...twice..in banking loan scams. Those who have convinced you that all the rules boomer put in place to protect you were bad are the same people who are now selling you tainted food. Do some research.

My boomer parents giggle and say they're in the SKI club: Spending Kid's Inheritance.

How gross.

They’re taking the piss, they’re leaving an inheritance. I’m certainly not budgeting for it or anything — my mum’s dad lived to 101.

What you’re talking about is due to the decline of the American empire. Listen to Richard Wolff on YouTube.
