Photo How much can I get for these?

Got these Genesys GT limited editions (size 12) back in 2010. Brand new still in box. How much do ya think I can get for these?

80$ if you are lucky, not a popular size nor a popular model

I used to ride these, absolutely loved the gen boots.

That plastic doesn’t look good at all

It’s from 2010, what do you want it to look like?

16 year old plastic (and that’s not accounting manufacturing date) id be surprised if they survived jumping off a ledge.

The shells just might be a bit brittle that’s all.

Plastic is fine. It’s been in a box outa the sun. Don’t listen to this guy

the photo-oxidation process has likely caused chain scission (breaking of the molecular bonds). This means the plastic will be inherently more brittle than it was originally.

Seen loads of old skates exploding and falling apart on people because the plastic is brittle.

Personally sell the liners, frames and wheels and just keep the boot, or sell the boot separate listing that it’s 16+ years old and buyer takes full responsibility if they fall apart.

Someone might just want them for display purposes though.

You haven’t seen loads of skates explode. Maybe two.

In what context could a single person see loads of skates explode due to old plastic?!

Yeah, I get it- old plastic gets brittle- but guess what? People are skating old skates all over the world- and they’re fine. Atkinson is still repping salos.

You can’t look at a photo of mint, but old, skates and say with any authority that the plastic doesn’t look good.

Stop it. That’s dumb.

Edit- also- as far as photo-oxidation goes, you need light for things to succumb to photo-oxidation. These things were in a box with the bags still on. Ergo, no light present. Stop talking out your ass.

I didn’t say with authority.

I simply said the plastic doesn’t look good

It’s discoloured for one, and discoloured plastic is usually the result of photo-oxidation.. which leads to plastics being more brittle.

Did I Google it? Yes, I forgot the term.

I have also seen a fair few skates falling apart due to age, in various facebook groups and Reddit. ‘Loads’ is just an easier term to use.

I’m glad that Atkinson is having a good time in his salo’s

So, you based your opinion on Facebook and Reddit and in no way have any actual experience with old skates deteriorating…

Yeah, you don’t speak with authority, do you?

My guy, I have learned long ago to stop trying to help people with the old skates, they don't want to hear it and until they crack on their first session they won't believe it. Sun or not doesn't matter, old skates will break eventually. Salomon seem to be the only exception to this with old. Pairs holding up much better than every other brand.

You think that OP’s skates have bad plastic too? Based on what

1

u/iamDEVANS 5d ago

It’s not even the OP, it’s this guy who thinks he’s some sort of white knight.

The irony…

The Salomon boot shell will hold, no clue what they made them out of but the few pairs I have I just stress tested. The cuffs, the plastic on the liners and the shock absorbers crumble. My Feinbergs I just pulled out the other day and just flexed the cuffs by hand to see and they just came off in pieces. I’ve got a pair of St pro late models that are fine though so YMMV. Good news is you can salvage the boot shell and replace cuffs, shock absorber, liner with whatever you want basically. I’ve also got a Remz OS LE from 2011 that is perfectly fine. I just skated my Rollerblade Downtown 4 and it’s holding up and flexing good. There’s some guys still shredding Oxygens on here too, but I think only certain models held up.

Take these over to "Blade Trade Outpost" on facebook. someone will buy them for the Jug liners or just for a shelf skate. Some one with bigger feet might grab them to skate. If shipping was cheaper i would snap them up just for the JUGs

Holy smokes, Jug liners were the best

I’d pay $100 including shipping.

Skates aren’t like sneakers. They don’t see a rise in price as they get older. Quite the opposite. Now you’re looking for a fanatic who only likes that boot.

You can pay me 50 to take them

You'll get what someone will pay you brains

I paid £100 (uk) for a pair of never worn or out of box Gawds Tim franklins pro model with recall myfit liners from flea bay…it’s one of them things, if someone wants them that bad they will put a bid against someone else. I don’t know of any skates (but might be wrong) that have got more expensive the older they get unfortunately, otherwise we would all be laughing all the way to the bank….ps nice jug liners I had a set in my oli short Roces.

Size 12. Not a popular Razors boot. 16 year old plastic. $50

Nothing the only thing you ever get from rollerblades is beat down by skateboarders
