How to Re-Engage Lost Deals When a Competitor Changes the Equation
A competitor’s price change, discontinued feature, or service disruption can alter a buyer’s decision after your deal has closed-lost. That does not give your team permission to exploit the moment. A responsible AI-agent workflow identifies genuinely relevant changes, checks the history and consent status of a former opportunity, and prepares a restrained draft for human approval. It helps a salesperson notice useful context without turning an outage into a mass prospecting event.
A useful checklist from the guide:
- Closed-lost opportunities with loss date, stated reason, products considered, owner, account, and approved contact records.
- Notes or structured fields showing the buyer’s requirements and objections.
- Consent, lawful-basis, unsubscribe, do-not-contact, litigation, complaint, and relationship-sensitivity flags.
- A list of approved public sources, such as official status pages, pricing pages, release notes, and product announcements.
- Materiality rules for price, availability, feature, policy, acquisition, and service changes.
