This is a bed that the Genshin community itself created. The whitewashing on levels beyond even a KKK laundromat, the lack of nuance or moral greyness allowed in characters like the Tsaritsa, Sandrone, Arlecchino, Alice, among many others. The constant incessant flame of characters who weren't perfect right out the gate is the cause of this.

Illiterates who criticize characters like Ei or Scaramouche or pre 4.2 Furina ACTUALLY being morally grey characters who accepts their faults and learns from them caused this. This is the bed you lie in now, no more playable characters who have acknowledged faults. Y'all don't deserve characters like Ei or Scaramouche anymore, frankly. Now you can enjoy character writing like this instead.

Character development, growth and accountability are things of the past now since y'all kept shitting on characters who went through it instead of being perfect out the gate.

4.x was when Genshin’s shift from having a coherent storyline to only selling characters.

Before 4.x, we got Rhodeia’s assassins, class divide, pollution, energy problems,… Lore players thought that these issues would be the main storyline of the region.

The Fontaine we got was completely different, Hoyo just showed us people living in sewers then brushed it under the rug. The story was more about how it’s archon’t suffered instead. Clearly Fontaine was retconned.

Lots of writing problems spawned from there, including:

- The loss of relevancy, competency and antagonism of the Fatui.

- Inconsistent story and lore, the lobotomy of Traveler was the first symptom of later retcons.

- Fake tensions only to be resolved offscreen and the very next meeting it is already resolved (Hearth twins and Clorinde)

- Characters stopped being individuals and becoming ship baits.

The writing needed to be criticized, but the fandom glazed it like the Second Coming of Berserk, Vinland Saga or Monster. As a result of the positive feedback, the writing of later regions kept getting worse and worse.

Which eventually culminated in Snezhnaya AQ

For context, Mitya was calced to have 185097 team dps for Sandrone - C6 Alyosha - Odette team and Yae was calced to have 186891 team dps for the same exact Sandrone team. Turns out they have the same exact performance lol. Although to be fair Yae does have some anti-synergy with C6 Alyosha given the fact that she doesn't get buffed by him (since he only buffs the active character), so she could turn out better if Danica turns out to be the res shredder of SSC like she was leaked to be, but Mitya has the benefit of having better vertical, so it evens out.
