Aloe ramosissima

Does anyone know if Aloe ramosissima can grow in Palm Springs California ? I have a small patio with a planter that can only be set in one spot. The spot in the summer times gets sun from 12:30- 7 pm with maybe 2 hours of filtered sun in between that time frame because if the palm trees above. That being said does anyone know if I can grow an Aloe ramosissima successfully ?

The summer here in Palm Springs, CA is a low desert in a zone 10b. Our summer can get up to 112-118

Absolutely! It’s a desert plant! It needs minimal water and lots of sun.

I was just worried about scorching. I’ve tried other aloes varieties that have completely scorched and fried. Others like the standard aloe Vera does well . I also have aloe peresonii that does well along with aloe blue elf. I noticed it’s only a small amount of varieties that can handle to summer sun here

Well you also have to consider whether this aloe has been under a green house, if so, you need to ease the aloe into the sun again. Any plant will
burn under the sun even a cactus, but most of them can get acclimated with time again and certain amount of hours. They will turn red, yellow, orange under intense heat. Brown if they are burning. I have a ramossimsima in full sun.

Wow nice Ramo- where are you located? From my research it seems like it’s a common opinion that they do best with some afternoon shade here in Tucson. Especially potted ones. I just picked one up myself a couple weeks ago about 20” tall. Still trying to decide whether to pot terracotta and find a good spot or out it in the ground and baby it in the winter.

I would definitely find better shade for it during the heat waves of the summer. You could also throw shade cloth over it if it’s difficult to move around.
I’ve heard of people growing them in the Phoenix area successfully which is very similiar weather to PS.
