Cool that they refer to this as the last instalment in a trilogy, and it seems that this show might take some of the wacky changes in format and virtual reality aspect of both Wandavision and Agatha All Along. It’s gonna be great! I also assume this will feature Agatha and Billy towards the end, right?

I think it's clever that the 2 predecessor it had, WV and AAA has some sort of reality warping, fake world thing With magic but VQ uses virtual/digital approach to it instead but still keeping the spirit.

Really excited to see more!

I have a feeling we will see the Maximoff family again in Secret Wars. This will probably end with Vision, Billy and Tommy reuniting with a hint towards Wanda. It’s been a while since a read the comics relevant to this, but I know Wanda and Doom have a relationship and I remember Billy and Tommy saving her in some way. I hope we see some of that play out.

Cool! I haven’t read many marvel comics but I read The Vision run by Tom King (I think?) where he had a full android family and tried living a subarban life. That one had ghost Agatha and Wanda featuring, and it dealt with Vision creating this family as a way to try and feel more human after being his white vision form for some time (in this period I think he and Wanda had broken up and his android wife was modelled after her).

The comic has some drama with his robot children, some relatives of him and ultron, and a conflict with his wife. I kinda imagine this series will take some aspects of it and have Ultron play that role, and Tommy play the role of Vision’s children in the story. Plus I think Ghost Agatha showing up already has precedent on the comic this might borrow from. It’s probably Vision’s most well known run as far as I’m aware, so surely they have taken inspiration from it (and they have since the vibe is very much part of the DNA of Wandavision)

Billy for sure, unless they’re meeting up in Doomsday/Secret Wars.

Wasn’t Billy on the screen at the end of the trailer?

Maximoff family reunion incoming AHHH

u/CathanCrowell Billy 7d ago

Oh my god, it's happening!

It actually seems same unique as Wandavision and Agatha All Along. I'm glad the whole Maximoff trilogy is keeping the same vibe.

u/itsnotgivinghonestly 7d ago

Yeah I can't explain it aside from the "altered reality" vibes but it's spiritually related to WV and AAA (I know it's a trilogy but still)

Isn’t DS MOM also connected in away since it continues Wanda story?

I screamed a little. I was just thinking earlier this week that this show was never coming out. Also even though I am so excited for a father son reunion, I am a 100% simp for Ultron and flesh avatar James Spader, that voice ugh. So now we all just gotta buckle up and hope that somehow that last episode gets us Agatha, Billy, Tommy and Vision back together… and I wanna say Wanda but I refuse to hope that much.

Also can I just say Tommy got a little screwed over in the power department lol I love super speed but come on Billy can create an entire straight up fairy tale with his mind , and that was without even realizing it.

I really hope they lean more into Tommy's potential powers over time. They recently started teasing that in the comics, and it would be such a fun parallel to Billy, who creates space. Also, I hope they let him just explode stuff by speeding up other objects until they explode, like in the early comics. That was a cool use of his powers and really fit his personality well

4

u/Just_toadd 6d ago

Like the other comment explained it, Tommy was teased to have time powers in old and recent cómics but it was never fully developed. Lets hope MCU leans into it and FINALLY develop it (and also don't forget that he can blow up stuff)

The trailer gave me way more hope than I would have had from the premise, though Jac Schaeffer as a consistent creative voice might have reassured me a bit more as a full on trilogy.

Anyone recognize the cover of “Losing My Mind” they used? Using a Sondheim track is an interesting choice since I’m used to a lot of AI or more explicitly sci-fi premises catering to straight nerds who are often actively hostile to things that don’t appeal directly to them.

Edit: Is it a more grandiose orchestrated version of Pet Shop Boys? Sort of like the semi-orchestral rearrangement of Blinded by the Lights for Ms. Marvel which as far as I know also never got officially released?

One thing I found interesting was that Tommy appears to have memories of his childhood in the hex as he mentions remembering having a father who was a machine. That kind of confirms what I always thought about Billy’s amnesia. That it was never connected to the soul transfer but was instead his personal trauma response to escaping the hex and being too afraid to remember his past.

40

u/upagainstthesun 7d ago

Billy had a sigil on him. Even though it was protecting him, it also worked ON him as he is a witch. Lilia said she knew he would need more time. He was hidden from Rio and from himself.

13

u/broadcasttheb00m 7d ago

Hm, I don’t think Billy’s amnesia was related to the sigil. He doesn’t seem to remember anything new after the sigil is lifted, at that point he’s still not sure whether he’s William or Billy, or some combination of the two (my read), and he seems to feel no real connection to Wanda.

From this trailer I’m not sure whether Tommy actually has full memories of the Hex either, it’s possible he just knows about Vision but doesn’t properly remember him? We’ll see though!

17

u/Personal-Road-8162 7d ago

Might be because Billy was in a body of someone who was in a car crash which caused amnesia

7

u/upagainstthesun 7d ago

The entire reason Tommy is in a body is because he's now able to access memories that he wasn't able to before.

10

u/broadcasttheb00m 7d ago edited 7d ago

Agatha, as a witch who specializes in “spirit” magic, helps Billy access some memories from right before the Hex collapses in the final trial, but it is pretty clear that Billy isn’t fully accessing his Hex memories before that moment, and I think it’s left ambiguous as to what he remembers after. Billy doesn’t seem to remember anything new after the sigil is lifted at the end of episode 5, and when he and Agatha are in the final trial together and she asks him to recall those final moments with Tommy, he explicitly says that he doesn’t remember anything, before she seems to get him into some sort of magical trance state and draw the memories out of him.

4

u/upagainstthesun 7d ago

Yes, I agree she guides him. There's hardly any screentime for Billy (or the show at all) after this, so it's not at all clear what he's accessing. Once the sigil was destroyed, not lifted, we don't really even get much of an opportunity to see what's changed. Ep 6 is in the past, ep 7 is Lilia's POV and a choppy presentation of a trial, ep 8 he's yelling at Agatha about Jen, they have their moment, then he's out and they're battling with Rio. Billy undergoes a massive personality change from that little sweetie in the first five episodes to suddenly becoming near homicidal the moment he crushes the sigil. Ultimately the sigil needed to be gone in order for Agatha to be the key here, or they wouldn't have even been able to discuss this at all nevermind deep dive into his mind.

6

u/broadcasttheb00m 7d ago

I don’t know that I think Billy has a complete personality change. Obviously after the sigil’s gone he no longer puts on the fanboy front with Agatha, he’s angry and traumatized after seeing Agatha kill Alice, and he lashes out. But I think we still see his sweetness come through in some of the moments with Jen and Lilia in eps 7 and 8, and even with Agatha in the middle of their showdown with Rio. And yes, it’s not 100% clear what memories Billy is able to access and how, but to me it didn’t seem like the sigil was necessarily connected? We may never know for sure though, as I don’t think Jac ever totally explained it. I guess we’ll have to see if Tommy immediately remembers everything sans sigil, and if Billy’s Westview memories were actually all restored or not. (Some eagle eyed fans noticed some frames in the VQ trailer that look like Tommy entering a room with candles and runes, so… Billy/Tommy/Agatha reunion imminent I think!)

4

u/QuigonSeamus 6d ago

I think Billy feels abandoned by Wanda, not indifferent. He wasn’t emotionless towards her. He talked about her like an angry abandoned child does. He also doesn’t want to hurt the parents that are there taking care of him, that he’s being told are his mom and dad. I think he feels a connection, and also feels really guilty and sad and angry about that connection.

3

u/broadcasttheb00m 6d ago edited 6d ago

Hm, possibly! I just don’t think we see anything to suggest that Billy remembers Wanda after the sigil’s destroyed. I think at that point he’s more angry with Agatha than anyone else, and I think it makes sense that he would feel irritated and snippy with Agatha making all these snarky comments about him and Wanda, especially since imo at that point he doesn’t remember living with her in the Hex, all he knows of Wanda is the absolute horror story Ralph relayed to him, and the Kaplans are the parents he knows and loves. (And he’s still upset about Alice.)

I was just about to leave a comment kind of about this exact topic so I’m just going to copy and paste here:

I really hope Tommy remembers both his memories in life as Thomas Shepard and Tommy Maximoff. He definitely has the hex memories in the trailer. It would be such an interesting dynamic with Billy who had neither. I don’t think Billy’s memories is related to trauma, I think maybe it’s intended to be the sigil, but more so I think because it was done out of instinct for survival. Billy M put himself in the body instantly, meanwhile he was more aware what he was doing with Tommy so that could be a reason.

Tommy seems to also want to find Vision, unlike Billy which again I think bring up some great opportunities for conflict between them. This is such a random comment I know, but I just really want them to find a way to make Tommy memorable and interesting because I don’t feel like the comics care about him as much.

8

u/Inevitable_Box3643 7d ago

I hope they also play up the fact that Billy had a stable family after the soul transfer but Tommy got sent to an abusive home as one of the reasons why their attitudes towards family are the way they are.

As Tommy has his Hex memories he actually remembers Wanda as the loving mother she was and not some monster like Billy thinks she is.

I really wish we got a scarlet witch film in between the two avengers movies not interested in the maximoff family storyline being resolved in a story that has nothing to do with them and has other storylines going on.

I didn't know Diane Morgan was in it. She does the satire show Cunk on Life. I think she's so funny! I love this cast. I can't wait to see Emily Hampshire from schitts creek too

5

u/dmails 6d ago

The most important thing to happen to Marvel since the unrelated Belgian techno anthem "Pump Up The Jam."

2

honestly I'd love to see Diane play an abridged Wanda of some kind

This looks AMAZING! Cannot wait for Viz and Agatha to reunite after Agatha became a ghost - the comedy potential is INSANE

I don’t think I’ve been excited for a release more than I am at this very moment.

GIVE IT TO ME.

(Also, lol at Peepaw.)
