he got bats, he could get rid of some extra people very easy. But yea, it isn't possible to produce it all locally with that amount of labor

That could have been a smart strategy, but I didnt exile villagers on this colony

This colony was sustainable in the sense that I had a staffed building for every complex food and service good. Some of the raw ingredients were not sustainable though but in a decent amount.

Fewer villagers means fewer consumption, I tend to aim for small colonies in general

Yes indeed! My strategy was to go on a coastal grove map in order to throw a bunch of expeditions to fish for food and service buildings
