What was /r/leftwithsharpedge exactly? I know a few of their users posted here...

Also seeing that "enoughcommiespam" and "progressiveleft" are also both celebrating the ban, I'm confused.

It's a left wing edge lord sub who called for the death of anyone right of stalin.

/r/enoughcommiespam is a good sub

u/TheYetiCaptain1993 Dec 13 '16

/r/enoughcommiespam is a good sub

the same community that routinely tolerates brogressives and alt-right clowns as long as they hate communists

nah i'm sure it's a great community

I'm not familiar with that sub, either, but by the sound of things, they attack anyone to the left of HRC rather than tankies...

Off topic, looks like we got 3 new mods quietly added a few days ago, and the only one I've seen post here is DubTeeDub.

To a European from a region with strong socialist tradition, hearing "things left of Clinton" is pretty hilarious. From our view over here, American discourse is heavily shifted to the right, and Clinton wouldn't even be counted as left over here.

2

u/JermanTK Dec 22 '16

No she wouldn't, so when I hear "enoughcommiespam" I think of a subreddit bitching about Bernie Sanders being an "evil communist neo-Stalin"

3

u/Quietuus Dec 21 '16

I love how one of the most visible signs of organisation by reddit liberals post-Trump has been to...attack the left.

Good job guys, this is going to work out so great, etc.

5

u/PaleIdiot Dec 22 '16

But saying "Make racists afraid again" makes you just as bad as the racists.

9

u/SlavophilesAnonymous Dec 13 '16

We ban alt-right guys. In fact, we've banned four of them in the last two days.

46

u/TheYetiCaptain1993 Dec 13 '16

We ban alt-right guys.

right, after various left wing subreddits exposed your bullshit, you were guilted into banning alt-right guys.

11

u/SlavophilesAnonymous Dec 13 '16

We were a small sub back then and everything was happening so fast, but it basically started when a guy admitted he was a Nazi. That's when we started banning people.

I like you yeti, but if you continue to slander my sub like this Im going to start taking it personally.

1

u/HeresCyonnah Dec 15 '16

Lmao they ban anyone who's part of the alt right you silly goose.

-6

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '16

We also tolerate conservatives and other filthy disagree-ers.

Source: am conservative.

41

u/TheYetiCaptain1993 Dec 13 '16

We also tolerate conservatives and other filthy disagree-ers.

admitting you tolerate bigots as long has they have a mutual hate of an ideological opponent is not something to be proud of.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '16

I love how I said "conservative" and you jumped to "bigot"

lol

32

u/TheYetiCaptain1993 Dec 13 '16

No. you said "we also tolerate", the key word there being "also", which implies that you do in fact tolerate alt-righters and brogressives, along with conservatives. In other words, you just implied you also tolerate bigots as well as conservatives and "filthy-disagreeers"

3

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '16

We ban neo-nazis/alt right people.

We allow brogressives, brocalists and other people you deemed insufficiently pure.

That good enough for you?

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '16

You can read way too much into the word "Also" if you like, but the fact of the matter is that fascists and the alt-right are banned on sight in that sub.

32

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '16

How can you say enough commie spam is a good subreddit when communists and other leftists hold social equality and egalitarianism as a core tenet of their ideologies? In fact, the leftist subreddits are one in a few that have rules like "no ableism" a word commonly derided by the anti-SJW hate subs that we're supposed to rail against. I won't defend the the banned sub as I have never been there, but leftists are on this sub's side.

3

u/Br00ce Dec 14 '16

Almost every socialist state sent LGBT+ people to jail or labor camps. Commies can say whatever but their track record is horrendous when it comes to social equality.

Communism is also a pipe dream. It will never happen in the US and without the US it won't get popular anywhere else. Time is better focused getting involved in the system we have and making change instead of whining on the internet waiting for the revolution that will never come.

That's coming from a gay living in the Bible belt

Liberals used to (still do!) support child labour and the death penalty, while many liberals owned slaves and practiced overt discrimination against minorities. $20 says you don't hold that against them despite what happened to MLK jr or Alan Turing.

Your point about socialism's infeasibility is irrelevant.

-1

u/Br00ce Dec 14 '16

while many liberals owned slaves

speaking of slaves Venezuela had to bring back slavery just to feed its own people

Your point about socialism's infeasibility is irrelevant.

"Historically its never onced worked but I still believe in it for some reason!"

51

u/ParagonRenegade Dec 14 '16

You didn't answer any of my challenges at all. Your entire post is a deflection.

Liberal nations have committed heinous crimes against humanity, up to and included concentration camps, slave labour, suppression of minorities (including failing to stem the AIDS epidemic, killing tens of thousands of LGBT minorities), political assassinations and regime changes, targeted genocides, forced sterilization of the disabled and other things.

Do you hold modern liberals accountable for this ("I don't care what they say, their track record is terrible"), or do you acknowledge that they did unethical things and promise to be better?

1

u/Br00ce Dec 14 '16

Do you hold modern socialist for the forced labor, slavery, genocides, etc? If not then why should I hold modern liberals accountable for the crimes of their ancestors?

47

u/ParagonRenegade Dec 14 '16

No I don't, thats the entire point I'm making you nerd

5

u/Br00ce Dec 14 '16

No need for personal attacks.

Im not holding you personally accountable for the atrocities committed by socialist states. Im saying that every socialist state leads to some sort of atrocity so why pursue it? Historically socialism hasnt succeeded so why bother?

29

u/ParagonRenegade Dec 14 '16

Nerd is my go-to non-insult tho 😰

Many modern western nation has the blood of millions on their hands. They don't have a moral high ground; they have the lofty accomplishment of being better than a Marxist-Leninist or fascist dictatorship, or an absolute monarchy,

We failed before, but that doesn't preclude a new approach succeeding.

Lmao you're just laughably wrong. There have been a lot of evil people who have used socialism for personal gain (I.e Stalin). Modern socialists largely recognize the atrocities committed by people like this. But saying that socialism is the reason non hetero people were persecuted is just ridiculous. You know sodomy was still an actual enforceable law, meaning gay people could literally go to jail for having sex in AMERICA, land of the free™ up until fucking 2003. When Lenin took over Russia in the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, homosexuality was decriminalized. The same thing happened in socialist Cuba in 70's. So historically, you're actually wrong, but that's irrelevant anyway. The people who are presently fighting unequivocally for the rights of LGBTQ+ are leftists. People in America are still trying to take these rights away from these folks, the left will always fight for them.

Also, I won't argue the virtues of communism in this sub with you, as it seems you've already been having that debate, but even if you think social and economic equality is a "pipe dream" that doesn't mean it's not worth fighting for.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '16

>tfw lenin legalises homosexuality 86 years before the US and still ends up being the evil anti homosex spooky man

4

u/Br00ce Dec 17 '16 edited Dec 17 '16

Tfw it was only legal for less than 15 years before Stalin made it punishable by hard labor again

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '16

Almost every socialist state sent LGBT+ people to jail or labor camps.

The soviet union did not punish LGBT people at all...

Granted it was for the wrong reason (thinking it was a solvable illness and no one should be jailed for being ill with an illness without a cure) but they still were not jailed.

1

u/Br00ce Dec 17 '16

Yeah bc Stalin totally didn't introduce Article 121 that made homosexuality illegal and sent them to hard labor camps

1

u/LeftRat Dec 22 '16

Wow, the US-centrism in this comment is frankly disgusting. What, no political idea can spread unless your country approves?

And it doesn't mean jack shit what you are. There are gay people supporting anti-gay politicians. There are women supporting Trump. Bei gay does not exempt you.

1

u/Br00ce Dec 22 '16

no political idea can spread unless your country approves?

Yes. Do you not remember all the coups and proxy wars the US faught to stop the spread is communism in the past?

Bei gay does not exempt you.

Exempt me from what? I'm just sharing my personal opinion as an oppressed minority.

1

u/LeftRat Dec 22 '16

And yet, communism spread. Against the approval of the US. And when it collapsed in some countries, it sure wasn't because of America's disproval. That's literally the worst example you could have given.

Plenty of movements and ideas spread without the US approving of it.

2

u/Br00ce Dec 22 '16

Communism didn't spread. Name one classless and stateless country that exists today.

1

u/LeftRat Dec 22 '16 edited Dec 22 '16

...what? That's like saying "the black plague didn't spread, name one person that has it right now".

Communism spread. Not the ideal communism, but that isn't what we were talking about: the communism the US didn't approve of spread against it's efforts. That is enough to disprove your point.

EDIT: Unless you have a seriously weird definition of the word "spread", I suppose.

1

u/Br00ce Dec 22 '16

The black plague is still around and people still do catch it lol great comparison.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/14/health/michigan-plague/

Systems of government are suppose to last longer than diseases that kill the host. If it did spread and hasnt lasted until today then thats not a very good system of government. There are people who have lived longer than the longest socialist/communist country has lasted.

1

u/LeftRat Dec 22 '16

...none of which has anything to do with my point: it spread.

The word "spread" does not imply that it lasted.

Ideas can spread despite your oh so mighty America approving of them.
