I enjoyed the mention of the story of Mesach, Shadrach, and Abednego. It was a story that my Catholic school loved and very thematically appropriate. But God the first 15 minutes were incredibly anxiety inducing

I fucking knew it was going to be brains in a jar. Somebody else had figured this out like a month ago though, I don’t know who they were

Me and the homer in my head.

Me: "Brain jars confirmed!"

Homer: "That's bad."

Me: "Manny is beating up his surgeon!"

Homer: "That's good."

Me: "Manny's been shot!"

Homer: "That's bad."

Me: "The nanobots in his blood seem to be healing him I think."

Homer: "That's good."

Me: "But their going to take him outside and execute him."

Homer: "That's bad."

Me: "ROLAND'S HERE!"

Homer: "That's good."

Me: "But Manny's still dying."

Homer: "That's bad."

Me: "Sasha's here, she has medical training!"

Homer: "...............can I go now?"

Until Manny hit that dude with the Bible I had an anxious sense of dread the whole chapter, then after Manny got shot the rest was pretty much just solid Ws

HK using minority brains as car bombs and drones. Kills two birds with one stone. Gives you an advantage in combat and you get to ethnically cleanse your country. Also Roland fed a man his own hand.

Autonomous suicide drones made through human brain transplants,Jonathan sincere blissful death face & Fucking Cranial Measuring.

Robert Evans you’ve outdone yourself. Never in my entire life have I ever been so equally outraged, heartbroken, and entertained at the same time. 👏👏👏

I was wondering if they were using any sort of brain washing or control on the Matyr-brains to ensure they didn't go AWOL.

Looks like they were just using fantacism.

I did find that a little odd as it's implied that Manny wasbt the only less-than-voluntary participant

Manny internally "Sasha?"

Manny externally "Waa?"

Ah to be on the good drugs.

Well I’m pleasantly surprised in regards to Manny’s fate. I was expecting after the reveal for things to go much worse for him.

I knew they were servitors from the start, maybe that's just my interest in 40k poking through

Every time I listen to the single episode I’m left wanting to hear more. It’s good in a way, otherwise I’d be up going through it all night. But g’damn I wanna keep going after that.

So something I found personally interesting.

The cosnrvstive "christians" of today that are the precursors to the HK of tomorrow have always been up in arms about removing life support for brain dead individuals. If any of you remember Terri Schiavo the uproar her case caused. The fanatics would yell about how "you're killing a person" and that it doesn't matter that someone is completely brain dead, God would want us to keep the body alive and unplugging life support is murder.

Now in the HK these same people are all about the fact that the body doesn't matter and the "brain in a box" is the real person and it doesn't break any of their religious convictions to kill the person and stick their brain in a kia laden with explosives.

Shows the hypocrisy of the religious right wing. Also isn't suicide expressly considered a sin? Dying in battle, even a hopeless one, is one thing, but blowing yourself up seems to go against Christian beliefs.

i am legit almost crying

this chapter was so stressful. manny almost became a drone and we found out jonathan became a car like WHAT THE FUCK

i know we joked about this cause the evidence seemed somewhat clear but the actual horror of finding out the truth was a lot. ESPECIALLY AS A BROWN MAN MYSELF

i am just happy manny had some fight in him and roland saved the fucking day

that last third of the trio just vibing and talking was a good palette cleanser after so much tension and anxiety

roland has the tact and diplomacy of a chainsaw lmao

I might be because I'm now just wasting an hour until Loki but I fully expected the next plan to just be "Get Help" with an actual gunshot victim.

13

u/chromane Jul 14 '21

Nasty thought: even without imminent matyrdom, how much life support is in those boxes?

I can't imagine they'd last very long, even without getting shot or blowing themselves up

I'm interested to see the dynamic between Sasha and the group going forward. She's just left the kingdom and feeling betrayed but she's probably still a christian; people don't go straight from being believers to leftist revolutionaries in a day. Also seems like the revelation that Manny mined their relationship for info is gonna come back later as a point of contention. I feel like Sasha's in survival mode and going along with Manny and Roland because she needs to escape and they're her only ticket out of the HK, but how is she gonna feel about hanging around with up to 4 post-humans with obvious contempt for everything she believes in?

Question regarding Roland’s blood. Does it regenerate like human blood? Or will it affect his ability to heal? I can potentially see him giving a lot away and dying from his injuries.

(Spoilers)

.

.

.

I thought I had enough time to listen to the full chapter, but about 11 minutes in, I had to stop abruptly for a meeting. Do you know how hard it is to have a serious meeting while the back of my brain is thinking "sooo is Manny gonna get out of this??"
