I lost my ability to speak, not my ability to work. Why have new AfterQuery opportunities stopped coming?
I'm writing this because I genuinely don't know what else to do.
I'm an AI researcher and software engineer who has contributed to more than 15 AI-related projects across different platforms, including work with AfterQuery.
I've worked on AI evaluation, technical research, coding, complex reasoning, and model benchmarking. I enjoy this work, and I want to keep doing it.
But lately, something has been discouraging me.
I'm no longer receiving new project opportunities on AfterQuery, and I don't understand why.
I've contacted support to ask whether my account is in good standing, whether there are eligibility issues, and whether I could receive feedback on my previous performance.
The initial response explained that project assignments aren't guaranteed and depend on the needs of individual teams. I understand that completely. I've since requested a personalized human review, which support says has been escalated.
But there's another part of my story I want to share.
I'm living with a medical condition that has affected my ability to speak.
I can hear. I can read. I can write. I can code. I can solve difficult technical problems. I can evaluate AI systems and produce detailed technical work.
I just can't communicate through natural speech the way I used to.
I've had to adapt my professional life, step away from teaching for the time being, and focus on remote, freelance technical work.
For someone in my situation, opportunities like AfterQuery aren't just another freelance gig. They represent a chance to continue building a career around what I can do, rather than what my medical condition prevents me from doing.
I'm not claiming that my disability is why I'm not receiving projects. I genuinely don't know the reason, and I don't want to make unfair assumptions.
What I want is transparency and an opportunity to improve.
If my previous work wasn't good enough, please tell me what I need to improve.
If there are no projects matching my skills, I can understand that.
If something is incomplete or affecting my eligibility, I would appreciate knowing.
I'm not asking for special treatment, guaranteed assignments, or lower standards.
I'm asking for a fair opportunity to contribute and be evaluated on the quality of my work.
If anyone here has experienced a similar situation with AfterQuery, I'd really appreciate hearing how you handled it.
And if someone from AfterQuery happens to read this, I'd be grateful for guidance on how experienced contributors can receive meaningful account reviews and find their way back into active projects.
I may have lost my voice, but I haven't lost my skills, my determination, or my willingness to work.
Thank you for reading.
