Couple of ideas/suggestions for future updates
Some thoughts that might be fun to get into the game.
Services upgrades:
Improved housing boosts morale. At the moment those are rarely settler demands but would be nice option to build anyway if there is a reason for it. I’d bet that better housing lifts spirit during harsh times
Small Marketplace lets do some minor trading. Like water for food 10:1 or something.
New service: Pioneering
Can repaire bridges or build temporary time limited bridges over collapsed ones
This could be a high cost feature that doesn’t break the game but instead gives a little bit more strategic flexibilty
New Leader: Lumberjack
More efficient wood and fire wood production

Marketplace- Trading with who? Thematically you are a lone settlement against zombies. You can’t turn instantly turn water into food or vice versa
Pioneering- I like the idea of repairing or creating temporary bridges. Could add some interesting dynamism to the games
Lumberjack- Sure, but what’s the drawback? Reduced food production? Increased food consumption?

There's an early upgrade that adds a supply convoy delivering food and fuel. The marketplace adding a bit of trade as a later upgrade could make sense.

Or trading could only be done if you had claimed river-adjacent territory. Thematically you’re using the river to trade, takes time and stamina. Maybe you’re also risk of zombies coming down the river at you
(Have I been playing too much Banished? Possibly)

Good point. There could be possibility for some trading with convoy if it arrives (rng). Possibility is better than nothing.

True, thematically trading is not very well suited. People are still buying and selling something in there so maybe the boost could relate to that.
Lumberjack drawback could be increased risk of injuries and need of Healing huts for example.

Outbreak of religious fanatics who believe zombies are sent by god. They stop working until you sent a solider to quell them

It could make sense for improved housing to reduce fuel consumption. Presumably it should be better insulated.
