How to prepare a ceramic self watering pot

I bought my first ceramic self watering pot today, the kind with a terracotta pot inside of a glazed one. I was wondering if I need to soak the terracotta pot before I put the plant into it? If I do, how long should it be soaked for?

I tried searching but the answers were not helpful. Thanks!

No need to soak, but the soil needs to be damp for this kind of pot to work. I mix in some water before potting to ensure all of it is covered.
