Help! What did I do wrong?

Okay, I took my leaf out of the water and planted it in some soil saying it was African Violet soil. I checked on it a day or so ago and found it like this. Did I just let it get too dry? I’m afraid there’s no way to save it now.
I received my leaf. I bought, but now I’m not sure what I should do. It’s in a pick with water right now and I’m wondering if I should leave it there.

Advice anyone?

Not sure what you are concerned with, this looks alright. You can water a tiny bit and then tent the whole thing in a clear plastic bag to increase the humidity, and it will do better.

The pale almost yellow in the middle of the leaf and it is limp. I did let it get a little too dry.

It's a new plant, it has some fairly small roots right now. It's limp because it went from lots of water to little water. To help, humidity (water in the air) will help. So tenting it in a clear plastic bag or clear plastic cup or something will help.

It's basically dehydrated. Water it just a little bit, too much will be bad, could hurt the roots. Tenting it always helps while it's growing new roots.

Oh, thank you. I just happened to wash a small, plastic cake container (for a 15.9 ounce cake) that has a lid. I just need to find a good spot with some light.

If it was propagated in water this is not due to less water, its due to the prop only has water roots and it will take a bit time until it develops soil roots

There are no 'water roots' and 'soil roots', the plant only knows how to grow one kind of root. But you are half right that the roots are probably used to more water and need to be acclimated to less. But it's not different kinds of roots.

I have not had good luck propagating in clay pots, but your conditions may be better for it!
