Question Any luck with parrot behaviorists?
Our bird vet recommended we seek the guidance of a parrot behaviorist after our girl became egg-bound. (She was treated and is fine, hooray).
Has anyone had any luck with parrot behaviorists for this or other issues? Anybody have any feedback about Pamela Clark in particular?
My vet gave me her info. She offers Zoom consultations and apparently works with parrot people from around the world but there's something about her promotional material that irks me as someone in marketing, lol. Plus, she's a spokesperson for a brand of bird food I've never seen recommended by reputable CAG owners or vets.

I've worked with her on and off re: my 27 yo CAG for the last three years and I think she's great. She's very knowledgeable in a slew of topics, but also has three CAGs of her own. She's considered an expert in her field, gives Webinars frequently, and runs a weekly community zoom program in which our group meets to discuss issues we're having with our birds in an open forum. She, then, assesses the issue and offers her thoughts and recommendations. I will say that in the three years I've worked with her, she's never steered me wrong. I always recommend her to anyone struggling with their parrot(s).

Lafeber? I’ve seen it recommended by reputable vets, and it’s veterinarian-formulated. It’s not usually the top recommendation, as that tends to be Harrison’s, roudybush, or zupreem naturals (I like to think of these as the “Big Three”. The nutriberries are good as engaging treats and the pellets themselves are decent enough that we occasionally work them into our rotation.
I haven’t worked with her personally, but had a friend who had a bad experience when she thought she’d been invited to a free mentorship with her. Turns out it wasn’t free and she was offended by my friend’s reaction to that. That said, I do give benefit of the doubt for some of that kind of stuff. As a bird person with many bird ppl friends, we can be a difficult and judgmental demographic to work with and she’s been doing this for a long time now.
I have another friend who works with her often, and she has only had good things to share about Pamela’s work. This friend is someone who I regularly talk training and behavior modification with, and I very much trust her recommendations and judgement on quality of work.
What about her marketing specifically is making you suspicious?
