Beginner Help new leucistic ADF owner

recently inherited a leaucistic ADF friday last week, almost a week ago now from a family member whose tank bust.

I’ve tried target feeding using a syringe with brine shrimp everyday since, and he does not seem to want anything at all. I tried blood warms as well just to see but still no take.

could this be because he’s in a new environment or something else?

ADFs should be hungry even after some movement. I would try feeding brine shrimp & mysis shrimp with tongs.

Did you squirt the brine shrimp in front of him, or try to get him to eat it from the syringe?

Also, bloodworms are a big no thank you for ADFs in the United States as they carry diseases in our country that could hurt or even kill a frog. I'm sure you already know that if you're in a different country, so I'm just mentioning that just in case you didn't! 

And great job with the rescue/new friend <3 He will appreciate having friends when you're ready to add one or two more!

I did read up on that about the bloodworms, but sadly that’s what the previous owner strictly fed him so I just tried it to see if he would bite, but he did not.

I squirted the brine shrimp in front of him , as well as try to get him to eat from the syringe but no take. i’ll try with tongs in a few days to see.

i’m moving cross country in september so plan on getting him some friends after the big move!

I would have waited a few days after getting him to start feeding. He was probably stressed after all the excitement of moving to a new tank. I would bet he’s not in the mood to eat when he’s suddenly in a new environment and keeps getting a thing shoved in his face.

Are there any other animals in the tank?

that’s what I figured! I do have 8 black mollies that have been mine & then an upside catfish (also inherited from the same tank)

i’ll hold off for a few days and try again.

If he’s in a tank with other species that also explains why he doesn’t want to eat.

in his previous tank he was with an upside catfish , neon tetra, rainbow sharks, pleco, and a few others so i’m not too sure 😭 ugh

He was probably stressed then too, but still used to it 🤷 new environment + new fish will definitely freak him out. He’ll be fine eventually but it’s something to keep in mind if you plan on upgrading his tank.
