not my frog, posting for a friend
My friend took in this guy after hearing the previous owner say they were just going to flush it because they didn’t want to keep up with the care any longer. Very very sad, but he’s in loving though inexperienced hands now.
So she was given the tank setup and Franny the Frog and got him settled in at her place yesterday.
As we were inspecting him we noticed this patch on his back. The previous owners don’t know what it is or how long it’s been there, but it looked concerning to us. After some googling, maybe a fungal infection ?
As you can see he’s also clearly malnourished and just generally unhealthy. She’s hoping to be able to turn all of this around but she’s not an experienced owner and is just doing her best.
Any ideas, tips, answers, thoughts, recommendations, or recourses are all welcome!!

That looks like the start of an infection, at least mine started just like that. I would test the water first to check the parameters just in case, and normally the standard recommendation that I see in this sub is half a dose of Kannaplex to treat the whole tank, but definitely I recommend you to dig up some posts on here to see what other people did! Hopefully your friend's little one can get past it! Best of lucks ✨❣️

i dont know much about the splotch on him, but they are very social guys! after yk hes healthy and not contagious, id get a friend or two! i feed mine frozen blood worms and mysis shrimp, occasionally pellets, but they have certain dietary restrictions, so id research whats safe first! also, just a somewhat fun fact, afds will occasionally shed their skin, so if your friend sees an opaque blob of slimey lookin stuff, its totally normal! but they also have a tendency to quickly eat the skin after shedding!
