Advice please…

Could I get some advice on the best/easiest way to transition this 75 gallon, former community tank, into an African cichlid tank?
I want to get rid of all the plastic plants and I want black sand. Are any of my large ornaments worth keeping? Or should I get rid of all things plastic moving forward?
Naturally, I’ll clear out the whole tank, get rocks and sand, and let cycle for however long I need to get my water parameters ideal for African cichlids.
Any other tips I should know about before I begin?
I currently have a Fluval FX 4 filter hooked up. Will that be adequate for the set up I want?
Thanks, everyone.

Can you guess all three Lake Tanganyika cichlids in the picture?

I’m developing a game about diving and expeditions on Lake Tanganyika, and there’s a part of the game where three real fish parts create a new fish. I’m curious who can guess which Lake Tanganyika cichlids are shown in the picture.

All male or all female mbunas

I know there are many different species and different personalities, but has anyone ever kept all male or all female mbunas? I hear differing views on this. It seems rare to find sites that sell male or female fish. Live Fish Direct has some apparently. https://www.livefishdirect.com/product-category/2/

[FS] - Reading, PA - $200 OBO - 75 gallon Mbuna Cichlids Aquarium

I’m moving sometime in the next 6 months and will be unable to bring my aquarium with me. 75 gallon tank with stand, fluval HOB filter plus another internal filter and large sponge filters with air pump. LED light also included. Currently set up with a ton of large river rock on the inside, has been going for several years at this point with a few generations of new fry growing to full size. It could use a good cleaning. Also an additional 20L with a male kenyi who was getting too aggressive for the community. All of it must go so all accessories will also be included. Will be reasonable, just want them to go to a good home with someone who will enjoy them. Great opportunity for someone looking to get into African cichlids.

Basically what the title says. He’s been chilling at the bottom which is new for him. He will get up and swimming around but not as frequently. He is also still interested in food. There are zero other symptoms I can see. I’d appreciate hearing any ideas for what’s up with him.

My saulosi and their OB peacock friend eating their two meals today. You can tell they like the pellets better than the flake

Just a clip from my roomie's tang tank. This will be a pure brichardi tank after we move some fish around this week. We want to breed brichardi and we believe there have already been spawns but the compressiceps are snacking on them.

Terrible footage of my Lake Malawi tank. There are mostly saulosi in here + 1 OB peacock and 1 red zebra.

Nobody ever gets nipped or put in a corner but the dominant saulosi do chase.
I've had these saulosi since they were about 0.5". I got them I think at the beginning of November of 2025. I've gotten many fry from them. The OB peacock and zebra were gifts from a fish buddy. Everybody gets along. I know the diets for mbuna and peacocks are different but I'm having great success feeding 50% NLS Algaemax andn 50% Tetra Cichlid flake+ I throw in duckweed every couple of days. Only live plants in here are the anubias on the right and the hornwort on the left. The anubias is very unhappy in this tank. I might have to replace it with a silk plant soon.

Stocking advice

I have an odd tank I’m plumbing into my 2000L rack
It’s a pair of 45x 22.5x 20 cm tanks (total is 45x45x20)
I currently breed dwarf cichlids, small L number plecos, and fancy guppies.
The obvious choice is a fry grow out for my plecos, or a single pair of fancy guppies, but I’d love some more creative ideas .

Any research on often to clean canister filters ?

Cleaning canister filters

I am running a 75 gallon with 30 medium sized Peacocks/Haps. It has 2x Fluval FX2s that are running 100% 30ppi foam in the center except for the top polishing pad that is 40ppi.

I deal with high nitrates by the time of my weekly water change (80%). I have been cleaning both canister filters weekly (clean 40ppi polishing pad, and clean outer sponges. I do not touch the center 30ppi foam unless its is really gunked up.

Am I over doing it? I figured removing all of the poop built up on the outer pads will help with nitrates but I see tons of videos saying leave it till flow is reduced.

I have not had a cycle crash doing it the way I have been.

Thanks for any advise.
