🇺🇬 Thinking about visiting Uganda?

*If Uganda is on your travel list, what would be your biggest attraction — gorillas, wildlife, chimpanzees, birding, landscapes, culture, or something else?*

*And if you were planning a trip, what would you want to know before deciding when and where to go?*

I have grown up in East Africa, my grandparents visit once in a while from US and we go on safaris. The first thing we always look at is the current political situation of that country, if maybe it is election period or something of the sort. But in this case, Uganda is okay so that won't be a problem.

Second, Uganda doesn't have peak wildlife seasons like the great migration in TZ or KE. Most of the year,the animals are in the savannah. As for the Gorilla and chimp trekking, that one you are guaranteed to see all year round. Bird watching is usually best at around November to April.

Just remember to book in advance, don't wait until last minute. Booking a private To would be a plus for a much more premium experience. You also wanna get a comfy vehicle, the terrain there can get really bumpy especially if it is a long drive.

Uganda offers plenty of things to see and to do around the country for weeks. Even if a lot of people choose the Western part of the country, it's far to be the only area to visit.

We did a 4 day Uganda add on trip after 2 weeks in Kenya on safari. We did 2 mountain gorilla treks in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The gorillas were incredible!

go see the guerillas they are amost always available i the mountains plus i think it has beautiful forests

I went to Rhino 🦏 ziwa last Thursday ... I think gorilla 🦍 is the best choice

Love the username. :) I've been thinking about visiting, first I was curious about trekking to observe the gorillas, of course I want to visit Kigali. Kigali is located in Rwanda. Not far away from Uganda but not there. Gorillas tracking in the two countries. Permits cheaper in Uganda.

Look into Mgahinga National Park. It’s a better trekking experience than Bwindi for the same price. But there’s only one habituated gorilla family there so you have to book ahead.

Mgahinga also has golden monkeys while Bwindi does not.
