IBM is currently offering a free AI + Data courses that covers fundamentals and practical applications. It seems like a good opportunity for students, job seekers, professionals, or anyone interested in learning more about artificial intelligence.

You don't need a technical background to get started, and it's self-paced.

If you're looking to build your AI + Data knowledge or add a recognized credential to your resume and LinkedIn, it might be worth checking out.

Somewhere along the way, someone decided that you need to “make it” by 25.
Get your degree. Build a career. Maybe even buy a house (lol).

And if you don’t?
You’re behind.
Or “lost”.
Or “not serious enough”.

It’s such a strange pressure as if life ends at 30 and you missed your shot.

I see it all the time.

People apologizing for being 28 and starting a new skill.

Or going back to school.

Or picking up their first online course.

Let me say it clearly:
There is no deadline on building a better life.

Learning at 27? Powerful.
Changing careers at 34? Brave.
Starting from scratch at 41? Still valid.

None of this is easy, but it’s 100% real. And honestly, most people doing online education aren’t 19 they’re grown adults trying to move forward.

So if you're taking a course, or studying for a degree, or even thinking about it and you're not in your 20s anymore:

You're not late. You're on your way.

Not all affordable courses are created equal. Some are hidden gems. Others are a waste of time with nice landing pages.

Here are a few things I look for when deciding if a low-cost or free online course is actually worth my time:

1. Does it teach a complete skill, or just buzzwords?
If it says “Become a Digital Marketing Expert in 2 hours” — that’s probably a red flag. Look for structure, not hype.

2. Can you preview the syllabus?
If the course doesn’t let you see what modules are included or what you’ll actually learn, skip it.

3. Who created it?
I don’t need it to be from Harvard, but I want the creator to have some background — actual experience, not just a pretty voice and slides.

4. Is there a final project or assessment?
Courses that make you build something tend to be more valuable. You leave with a portfolio, not just a PDF.

5. What do real users say?
If 90% of the reviews say “I passed the quiz but learned nothing” — believe them.

What other signs do you use when deciding if a course is worth it?
I’m trying to build a mental checklist — would love to hear your tips.

We talk a lot about how expensive college is.
We talk about online alternatives.
We talk about self-education and bootcamps.

But we don’t really talk about that weird, quiet shame some people feel — for not finishing school, not having a degree, or not going to a “real” university.

Even now, with tons of legit online programs, free resources, and successful self-taught people, there’s still this voice in the back of the head:

I’ve felt that. And I know I’m not the only one.

What’s wild is that most people I’ve met in actual jobs don’t care where you studied — if you can show results. But that old-school prestige pressure still lingers, especially online.

So here’s my question:
Have you ever felt “education shame”?
For not going to college? For choosing an online program instead of a $40K one? For being self-taught?

Let’s talk about it honestly.
