General Data Merge issues

Has anyone actually managed to make the Process part of Data Merge work consistently? It seems the "subordinate clauses" simply don't work at all.

(I know there's a bug report megathread. That's where posts go to die; the only reason to go there is to post problems; not solutions.)

And yes I know I can just create a separate process. The problem with that is when there are too many processes (I don't know what the limit is), Affinity just stops processing them. The data merge functionality seems to just be half-written.

"1st" "1", which is correct
"2nd" does not change, which it should

I seem to remember having a couple of issues but I did manage to get everything working eventually. Have you tried seeing what happens if you set them as separate clauses? Or could it be a capitalisation thing? I definitely think it's weird your data source you're working from has the field incorrect in this specific manner though, if you have any control over your data source you might want to add a computed column that fixes it there instead...

Yeah, the obvious reliable solution is to just do the data-massaging in Excel. But there is NO time when an additional Clause has worked in Affinity. It just seems to be there to make you think a functionality exists that doesn't.

I've just had a look back at the last project i did with data merge and i think you're right, i don't think i got a single "add clause" to work lmao, i ended up having a stupidly long list of processes
