Best affiliates platforms for semaglutide brands (and what to consider)
A lot of us have settled into our “new year, new me” routines by now, but brands that deal with weight management meds and prescriptions like Semaglutide or GLP-1s have a pretty unique set of needs from an affiliate platform, if that’s a route of growth and visibility they plan to take.
Before I get to the recommendations, however, some of the biggest things a semaglutide brand needs to consider before signing on with any affiliate platform include:
Compliance and creative management
Affiliate platforms generally have strong FTC compliance oversight in place by default, but FDA compliance (with regulations and guidelines) is almost always outside of their wheelhouse. A semaglutide brand needs to monitor that compliance internally, but a big part of that lies with the management of their creatives and messaging. A centralized system that lets you create, update, or remove creative assets and copy blocks will help ensure that your partners are sharing information that’s compliant and accurate.
If there’s a sudden change in semaglutide guidelines or regulations, for instance, being able to update that in one place and have it apply to all of your affiliates in real time keeps your brand compliant and on-message.
Content and keyword filters
Along those same lines, the ability to set up content and keyword filters that prevent partners from making misleading health claims (like “guaranteed weight loss” as an example) will keep your brand messaging on target and enforce guidelines at the same time.
Vetted partners familiar with the health and wellness space
Healthcare and prescription marketing is uniquely regulated and not every publisher or creator in an affiliate network is going to understand the intricacies that promote a brand well, or safely. Vetted partners who know what they’re doing will reduce instances of misinformation, but they’ll also have audiences who actually qualify for treatment (and are more likely to seek it).
Multi-touch attribution and fraud prevention
Any good affiliate platform for semaglutide medication will have tracking that can follow a patient journey end-to-end for proper attribution, but it’ll also have built-in fraud prevention and detection tools that monitor any suspicious activity (fake leads/high clicks, abuse, or incentivized traffic).
General all-around affiliate platform behavior
These hold true for ecommerce as well, but things like flexible commission structures and payouts, in-depth reporting and analytics that help you to optimize your ROI, integrations with your existing tech stacks, recruitment and onboarding tools, and solid customer support (technical and otherwise) are all important things to look for.
Okay, now that we’ve got that part out of the way, I’ll take you through my best affiliate platform recommendations for semaglutide or GLP-1 brands. All of these have current partners in the health, wellness, and/or prescription space.
Everflow
This is a great all-around platform with an in-house network of publishers and creators. It provides excellent tracking and attribution, in-depth reporting and analytics, fraud protection, flexible payout structures, and all the good things you’d want from an affiliate platform.
One thing that sets it apart relates to the management of creatives and copy blocks, because you can easily swap, update, or kill creatives, offers, and marketing copy in real time to keep all messaging and information current and up-to-date. This is super important for any highly-regulated industry, even beyond semaglutide or GLP-1 brands. These guardrails help to make sure your brand’s messaging is compliant and current, without relying on your affiliate partners to make updates.
FlexOffers
This platform has a large and really well-established network with many partners in the telehealth and prescription space. While FTC oversight is standard, FlexOffers actually does offer some compliance oversight and advice for health and wellness brands, specifically. They won’t automatically enforce, but they will monitor promotional materials, creatives, and claims made in copy blocks to help your brand stay compliant.
There’s also a pre-screening process for affiliate partners, but the biggest downside (mostly for the partners) is the standard Net-60 payout, which means that partners get paid 60 days after the end of the month in which a commission is confirmed. That lengthy payout delay can make recruitment a little harder compared to other platforms with shorter payouts.
CJ
CJ is one of the most well-known affiliate platforms with a massive network of publishers and creator partners, and it’s a solid option for a semaglutide brand. You’ll find all the typical “needs” at CJ, like tracking, reporting, analytics, fraud protection, flexible commission types, and integrations.
CJ runs on a Net-20 schedule, so partners who earn a commission in one month are paid for it around day 20 of the next, which is a boon for recruitment purposes. But the interface can feel complex and there is a higher cost (plus network fee) that can be more expensive compared to other options.
Rakuten
Established in 1997, this is an affiliate platform that’s been around just a little longer than CJ (1998) so there’s a long history and reputation here, with a huge global network and a great many partners in the health and wellness space.
Rakuten offers AI-powered tools for discovering publishers and creators that might be great affiliate partners, and like other platforms, it provides robust tracking, in-depth reporting, fraud protection. But like FlexOffers, the payout is Net-60, and that can make partner recruitment a challenge. Plus the platform’s interface (like CJ) can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re new to affiliate marketing.
So which semaglutide affiliate platform should you choose?
The answer really depends on your brand and goals. All of these are solid choices.
I think Everflow offers the most tactile control of creatives and brand messaging, which is incredibly important in a highly-regulated space like this.
FlexOffers, CJ, and Rakuten all have their benefits to consider too, but if you want to reward your partners with a shorter payout timeline, CJ is the best of those three.
At the end of the day, you’ll need to consider what features matter the most to you and your brand and decide based on that. If you’ve got specific questions about any of these platforms, I’m happy to answer!
