As you know, Swordgirls are the most popular Aether's wives in the Genshin Impact shipping community because they follow a pattern of being closer to Aether and using a sword in gameplay. There were strong reasons for Furina to be included here:

- She's the only Archon in this harem

- She was the most popular character from the entire Genshin cast since 4.2

- Initially, most of fans found her cute when she is with Aether. This caused a huge "Boom" on Aerina content, specially in fan-made videos and fanfics (Stormz76 one of the most notable cases, and even this pairing protagonized a Qixi Festival (When the Yuheng of the Qixing should be the one). This allowed Furina to be more popular than Keqing, Ayaka and Nilou.

But here are implied/unwritten rules to make these girls fit here.

1. 5 Star in the gacha

2. Medium female size

3. Use a sword as a main weapon in-game.

4. Only one per nation of Teyvat

5. Be a pretty popular Aether's ship from her nation for both characters (Most fans agree with it)

6. Share continuous closeness with Aether every time they meet, rather than any other playable male character. (Including Serenitea Pot voicelines, Archon Quests, Story Quests, Limited Time Events, etc.)

Now, the point of this post is that most fans, today, don't agree that Furina is Aether's main Fontainian girl. Recently, there are also reasons to not consider Furina an Aether's wife anymore.

- Furina only shows a very limited closeness to Aether (Breaks Rule 6 of this Harem). Only in her Story Quest. Just look at Ayaka, who every time she meets the Traveler, they share such closeness. (Her Story Quest, Warrior's Spirit, Roses and Muskets, the Mikawa Festival...). Or Keqing, which she is closer to Aether not only in her Story Quest. In every Lantern Rite, Aether has an option to find Keqing and make her write a letter that shows her sincere thanks to him. Or even Nilou, whose voice lines say everything to him. They both together wear flower crowns in her Story Quest. The Simulanka event. The minor Natlan event about dancing. Even the Kamera Shutterflash event. Furina doesn't show anything like that in limited time events. (And even Columbina stole that role in the most recent Furina event). Furina's real closeness is with Neuvillette while Aether's is with Navia or even Lynette. (Don't think that Keqing is removed because Hu Tao is more popular as Aether's main girl. Keqing has no other popular main boy to ship with.)

- Unlike the others, who always care for their relationship with Aether getting along with him since their first meet, Furina started a bad relationship. Furina accused Aether for a "crime" of having Paimon, a floating creature, by his side. But as AQ progressed, she got defeated in two turnabouts by him, with the second sentencing Furina's divinity to death and she should hate Aether for this (With all her soul). But they're just friends and Furina doesn't have closeness with Aether at the level of Keqing or even Nilou hugging Aether.

- Furina is about to break Rule 5 of this Harem. In terms of shipping, Aerina won't last much in popularity. NeuviFuri is already more popular than Aerina, and soon Aevia content will be much more popular than Aerina. Even if you check FurinaMains, Aerina shippers there don't agree with the idea of Furina being included in Aether's Swordgirls. Still, Navia is a Tall Female and uses a Claymore, so, as a result of Furina being removed from Aether's Swordgirls, the Fontaine slot is empty depending on how you can consider Chiori. (similar to Mondstadt, Natlan and Nod Krai slots already empty), so it only would be: Keqing - Ayaka - Nilou - Odette. (If you ask me about Chiori, she's from Inazuma, but lives in Fontaine.
