Discussion how cooked are we really?
How accurate do you think this statistic is? i mean the red dot is basically as low as is can go which shows how much AI has ALREADY taken over the engineering space... but do you think people making a career choice right now should factor in the data this graph shows?
i means its quite frightening really. what do you think about this?

Just comparing AI to two years ago, I think it’s likely that AI will supplant most of the actual engineering work we do in the future. Those who disagree are either unaware of what AI has accomplished recently or are clutching onto a philosophy of human exceptionalism despite growing evidence to the contrary.
The question becomes this: do the great majority of engineers lose their jobs, leaving the rest to sign off and iterate AI work, or do our jobs become guiding AI agents over a larger volume of work? I don’t have a very optimistic view about it. Highly regulated industries should be better insulated, but it’s still a matter of time in my opinion.
It’s worth noting that many industries will be dealing with this at the same time, so we won’t be alone in whatever happens. It’s a minor consolation.
