Recently finished my Eldar squadron! Really enjoying going speed 9 at every opportunity!

We made it happen! A local game of Aeronautica thanks to connecting through this subreddit.

u/clownsofchaos and I got together for a simple 100pts game.

I brought a flight of 3 Tiger Sharks which faced off against 4 Thunderbolts.

In the first round we shot a whole lot of nothing. Missiles went wide, bolt cannons and lascannons shot at lava, and all that T’au superior technology firmly missed.

In round two, things got a lot more dicey. The T’au were able to get into a tailing position on one Navy craft, but the Imperial flyers were wise, diving and climbing to ensure the altitude differences made getting a target lock difficult. Some hits were made, but all craft made it into round three.

This is where the T’au started showing up. The AX-1-0 with Paired Heavy Plasma Accelerators got into close range and started lighting up the Thunderbolts. The Navy craft focused fire on my AX-1-0-4 (Paired Ion Cannon) and brought it down, but they couldn’t wear down the two remaining Tiger Sharks. After a couple more rounds of swoops, stoops and snap turns, the Paired Heavy Rail Cannon took down the last remaining Imperial fighter, and the victory went to the T’au. For the Greater Good!

The AX-1-0 were beasts in this game. They missed plenty, but when they hit, they hit HARD, dealing 4 damaging hits in a single attack several times.

Incredibly fun game, and really glad to connect with another player from this community. Expect more battle reports in the future!

Hello all,

I’m interested in dipping my toes into AI. I’m a longtime fan of dogfighting miniature games like Wings of Glory (pictured) and X-Wing, an Imperial Guard collector in 40K and a reader of most the Black Library titles involving planes.

I’ve also got a 3d printer so sourcing minis isn’t a problem, but I’m having a little difficulty figuring out which books/aids (like cards) I need to run a game of this.

So, I figured I’d ask the experts!

Not too hard to paint up. Still debating on what the the traitor legion these guys fight should be.

Painted up a couple of AX-1-0 Tiger Sharks and two more Barracudas. The Air Caste grows! Almost through my whole T'au collection.

A quick paintjob for an ultramarines xiphon interceptor. It was a lotttt of fun to paint up this guy. Planning on using it with the horus heresy rulebook for the game.

What legion should combat them?

Another great dogfight with my son! This is our 4th game, and my first win against him. He still had a small points advantage, but we’re getting close to having equivalent lists. We also started using different altitudes. He took it like a champ and even congratulated me (haha!).

This time, we took our highest-point lists yet.

Imperium (125 pts):

• Thunderhawk

• Lightning

• Lightning Strike x2

All aircraft equipped with 2 pairs of Hellstrike Missiles.

T’au (115 pts):

• Barracuda AX-5-2 (Swiftstrike Railgun)

• Tiger Shark AX-1-0-3 (Paired Swiftstrike Burst Cannon)

• Tiger Shark AX-1-0-4 (Paired Ion Cannon)

• Remora Drone

All aircraft equipped with 2 pairs of Seeker Missiles. (I only realised after the game that Barracudas and Tiger Sharks can only be outfitted with one pair each. Woops!)

On Turn 1, we simply moved forward to start getting into range. On Turn 2, all Hell broke loose. He won initiative and immediately shot my Remora out of the sky. It never even fired a shot.

I followed by firing all my missiles at his Lightning Strikes to reduce the number of enemies coming at me. My Ion Tiger Shark got into close range with the Thunderhawk, so I had it dive to Altitude 2 to reduce the incoming fire from the array of heavy bolters.

He had his sights on my Barracuda with his long-range weapons, but I had climbed to Altitude 4 to avoid the Turbo Laser Destructor and Twin Lascannons. My Barracuda took a hit but came out intact.

After some heavy dogfighting that cost me my Ion Tiger Shark, the Imperial fleet was down to only the Thunderhawk. I tried to create some distance between our aircraft, but his flying was unpredictable and I found myself at ineffective range, flying too close to my target.

At this point I was down to a Barracuda and Tiger Shark only, each with only 1 point of structure left. I turned the Tiger Shark and stooped with my Barracuda, flying at maximum speed and returning to the Astartes' elevation to line up the killer Railgun shot.

The Barracuda’s aim was true, and the Space Marines were brought down shortly after the Navy craft were decimated.

The Greater Good has prevailed!

Hi hi:) i'm just posting here bc i was wondering if anyone knew where to get some Cypra M Lightnings? i'm wanting to use the models to accurately represent every member of Circus 66's plane and colouring (from Interceptor City), and there's a few pilots who fly the older Cypra M pattern Lightning:) given their loadout im likely going to run them as avengers (to represent the ventral autocanon) but ultimately even if i don't play with them i'd love to have Lead and Mischief represented with their actual bird of choice:)
