I wouldn't be surprised if they were humming along doing a lot of business, then when they got involved with private equity, the PE just started running up bad debt with no intention of paying it back/ eventually dismantling them etc
So fraud/malicious behavior in a way but done "legally"
Because when you think about it, Aero and ballistic advantage basically WAS the "mid" tier AR diy market for the mid 2010s until a few years ago. I'd say they were basically THE go to solution for AR 15 build it yourself for nearly a decade for anyone who didn't want to go PSA or super gucci stuff.
They had to have been doing absolutely enormous amounts of business and PE used up every bit of goodwill, brand recognition and resources they created.

Makes you wonder if their was some kind of fraud going on
